Name that obscure tune . . .

I looked it up. I actually did a lot of work with that band in the transportation industry. The company I worked for furnished their busses and trailers.  I even rode the drummer’s motorcycle to and from storage a couple of times. Talented band, but I never cared for their music!

Rush: Red Barchetta

(didn’l like his motorcycle either!!)

Even though I might give Zeppelin the nod as my favorite band by a slim margin, Rush was most responsible for much of the soundtrack of my life, especially high school and early adulthood. Neil Peart, as their primary lyricist, was at the forefront of that, and his passing was a punch to the gut.

I am glad people are keeping it honest when they look something up, and why don’t you like BMW motorcycles? Kidding, not a motorcycle rider here.

Well I'm still very much a beginner, but I love to sit around and make noise with others

Don't think I've  heard that one, can't find an exact match with a search either.

It's an old english ballad.  Folk revival bands like Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span have recorded versions of it.  Let's wait till Marshall Hangtree gets a shot at it.

It's there he spied some ladies fair as they came into view.

Lord Daniel's wife was gayly clad,

The flower of the pew, pew,

The flower of the pew.

I looked it up!  That one has multiple variations of the lyrics!!  Took a couple of tries to get it.

Edit: I pulled the title so’s Marshal Hangtree could have a shot at it!!

It’s not BMWs that I don’t like, although I admit I don’t care for most of them. His bike was tall and gawky and had every geegaw and gizmo you could imagine on it!!

Just NOT for me!!

Okay! I did look it up. As I said, there are numerous versions and various verses.

Let’s try another one!

But the time has passed,

For living in a dream world.

Lyin’ to myself,

Can’t make that scene,

Of wondering if you love me,

Or just making a fool of me.

Well I hope you understand,

I just had to go........

Take me across the water cause I need some place to hide

I done the rancher's daughter and I sure did hurt his pride

Oo-oo Oo-oo ah, ah, ah

Oo-oo Oo-oo ah, ah, ah

Well there's a hundred miles of desert lies between his hide and mine

I don't need no food, no water, Lord cause I running out of time

Fightin', killin', wine and women gonna put me to my grave

Runnin', hidin', losin', cryin', nothin' left to save

But my life

Alright, another easy one.

I'm gonna keep on the run
I'm gonna have me some fun
If it costs me my very last dime

One pane of glass in the window

Noone is complainin' though

Come in and shut the door

Faded is the crimson from the      ribbon that she wore

And it's strange that noone comes 'round any more

Imagine me and you I do

i think about you day and night, its only right

to think about the girl you love and hold her tight...............

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away

Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air

You better watch out

There may be dogs about

I've looked over Jordan and I have seen

Things are not what they seem

I kept thinking that was a Robin Hitchcock song, but it wasn't quite right.  That was so familiar and yet unobtainable I had to look it up.  Been pushing 30 years since I heard it.  Great album.  I guess I know what I'll listen to at work today.

That one seems kind of prophetic given the political climate these days!!

THIS ONE????

Well I heard some people talking just the other day

they said you were going to put me on the shelf

But let me tell you I got some news for you and you’ll soon find out it’s true

Then you’ll have to eat your lunch all by yourself ..........

In a place you only dream of

Where your soul is always free

Silver stages, golden curtains

Filled my head, plain as can be

As a rainbow grew around the sun

All the stars above who died came from

Somewhere beyond the scene you see

These lovely people played just for me

Woke up this morning,

Somethin’ robbed me of my sleep.

Reached for you, but all I found,

Was a cold, empty sheet.

Three nights in a row, baby,

I don’t know where you’ve been.

You say you’re workin’ late,

But could it be you’ve found another man?

EDIT: if you look it up, take a listen!!  Fabulous Song!!!

Now I’ve been crying lately

thinking about the world as it is

why must we go on hating

why can’t we live in bliss
