Aikido Defense Against A Knife Attack

And that is the smartest lesson of this kind I have seen...well, besides what my Karate Instructor told us when my friend Skupe asked some questions.  My instructor's name was "Peek".

Skupe: "What is the best defense if someone pulls a knife on you?"

Peek: "Run away"

Skupe: "Really? What if they have a gun?"

Peek: "Run faster."

Yep, knife run away.  Gun, if close, run to them.   What most people don’t realize is inside 15 ft most people can’t draw a weapon and fire faster than you can run at them.

most movies get it wrong when they walk people at gunpoint.  If you are within arms reach you will be disarmed before you can pull the trigger.

I've never forgotten my Sensei's quiet voiced observation that there is no dishonor in running.
As I recall, we were discussing a similar confrontation.

Let's not forget about the 21 Foot Rule that we all learned from Justified...

That clip was so dark that about all I could see was Raylan's hat.

Going by sound alone, and the reference to the "21-ft rule", I'm guessing the bad guy pulled a knife and charged Raylan, and Raylan kicked him in the nuts?

Nope. The dude ran at Raylan and fell in a hole. Shoved the knife right up through his lower jaw into the frontal lobe of his brain. Dead badguy.

Perhaps you should try adjusting the brightness on you monitor or phone?
