Car Bomb in Nashville

Blackwater 53393

Recommended Posts

Someone detonated a car bomb in downtown Nashville around 6:30 this morning!!

Police say it appears to be intentional.

It happened on Second Avenue, a tourist and entertainment area known for its restaurants and live music venues.

Only a few injuries, none critical. Lots of storefront damage and possibly some structural damage to what are mostly historic buildings.

Nashville is famous for immediate and impressive recovery!!  The flood of 2010 and last spring’s tornado are examples.

Some of these businesses will be back open in weeks, if not days.

And woe to whoever did this if the local hillbillies get hold of them!!

Intentional, most definitely.

Call was placed for shots fired.

First responding units saw a suspicious vehicle -- they didn't say what aroused their suspicions, but they wisely followed their veteran and experienced gut and called for a hazardous level backup team ... the vehicle went boom, but responding units were well back from it.

Sounds like the bomber wanted to cause plenty of badge packer casualties!

Interesting. Apparently the bomber wanted to inflict maximum damage with few casualties. Obviously not a Jihadist type. Homegrown loony wanting to make a statement.

AT&T provides services to businesses with security systems. I wonder if we’ll hear about a big heist later?

One of the retired specialists who spoke to Fox said the bomber may have tried for 18:30 on the 24th (busy restaurant time) but set it for 06:30 instead.

They parked the van at around 2 am so that wouldn’t make sense.

Possible. Or just used it as a diversion to get cops away from some other area. Hollywood movie plot stuff but you never know.
I would think if it was political they would have done it closer to the Capitol building. And there would be some message or manifesto released immediately.

The media is reporting that the RV was broadcasting a warning to evacuate the area for several minutes before the bomb detonated.  It certainly appears that the terrorist was attempting to minimize the number of casualties based on the time of day and the loudspeaker warning.    I expect we'll get more answers in a couple of days.

Early reports included rumors of no license plates on the RV.

That would make me suspicious, I'm wondering why this was not included in the first press conference.

And this is the RV:

There are confidential traceable numbers all over that RV.  Engine, transmission, frame etc.  The Oklahoma City bombing was solved by running the frame numbers through the NICB database.  If I was in charge, I would start with finding those vehicle identification numbers.

FBI briefing scheduled for 6PM central time:

Streaming now!

On edit: Over, and was a city-level briefing, not FBI. Patience, rumors flying like crazy right now.

Most interesting rumor: Human remains found at the site.

Most confirmed rumor: 911 services in this region affected, possibly due to ATT trying (with glitches) to move data and network processing out of the affected data center.

Why suspicious? In these incidents details always mis- reported, un-reported, changed, changed again, retracted and otherwise screwed up 6 ways from Sunday.

I can tell you all for certain that 911 service has been effected in many areas, including my home county.

Our regular cell service, land line, internet (ATT), e-mail (also ATT), data (including text), are all out!!

I am bootlegging off of my son’s wi-fy using my cell phone to post here.

Different levels of outage are being reported all over Middle Tennessee.

It seems most likely to be an attack on communication.  Numerous emergency services (many 911 centers) have been slowed or shut down.  It has effected information and emergency operations.

Between this facility and the one in Atlanta, routing and distribution for AT&T to most of the eastern section of the nation is controlled.

I’m betting that security around facilities like this one has  already been quietly stepped up all around the country!!

I've got my theory on two possible groups that could have done this but I'd probably get kicked off here!

What a shame!!

Too early for details. However, keep on hearing about the evil ones who are responsible for this tried to minimize causalities. Many were adversely affected.

Want to minimalize causalities, then do not detonate a bomb.

Why, just why?

based on what isn’t working now and the fact that the bomb broadcast a warning, I suspect that whomever is responsible wanted to damage infrastructure and not kill people.  It appears they were successful.

I have no theories. Given a lot more information I would probably form one. But speculation at this early stage would just be silly. I’ll leave that to the Internet Influencers.

What I find strange is the lack of, I don't know, enthusiasm, outrage, "OH MY GAWD!" reaction from the media. Yes, I've seen articles on the news, but none of the "how dare they" or "It must have been the ....." hysteria around similar incidents in the past.

The media gets excited when it can push gun control agenda.

That's mostly because the MSM doesn't know who to blame yet and partly because it was Christmas Day and they aren't going to interrupt their plans for the holiday for a RV exploding in Nashville.

The media just hasn’t figured out how to spin it into their favorite scapegoat’s fault.

Give them time, the talking points will be issued soon.
