I’m Socially Unaware

My wife needed to mail a couple of small parcels but was running out of time so I offered to do it for her. Our little post office has counter space for three clerks but with covid they only have space for two, social distancing, don’t you know. I showed up at 9:00 when they opened the inner service area and there were 6 people in front of me. Only 3 customers at a time are allowed into the inner service area, two to be waited on and another next in line. I stood in line about 15-20 minutes and moved up to where I was the next to go through the door into the inner service area. A very loud, unmasked woman carrying three small packages comes in and asks if the inner area is open yet and I told her it was but we had to wait our turn in line. There were now 6 people behind me. This woman told us all that she doesn’t have time to wait in line like everyone else and that she was going into be waited on ahead of us. I told her the line formed to the rear and pointed to it. She then tried to go through the door and I put my foot out keeping it from opening and told her that none of us had time to wait in line but that’s the way it works and she needed to go to the back of the line.

Man did she get P.O’d. She let loose with a string of profanity that would embarrass a sailor. They have a Dutch door out in the main lobby where we were for customers picking up packages and the employee that was manning that disappeared and reappeared a few minutes later with the post master. They escorted the woman out of the lobby and told her that they would call the sheriff if she didn’t leave. She left in a huff and a couple of people in line thanked me for standing up to her but one woman told me that I was seriously lacking in Social Awareness. I told her that I had no idea what she was talking about and she told me that I was obviously unaware of the woman’s predicament and that it was rude and inconsiderate of me to do what I did. The guy right behind me told her that I did exactly what he was going to do if I hadn’t of done it first. She said we were both wrong. What the hell has happened to our society?

You done good.

Except for not telling Miss Busboy to get bent.

The Loud Obnoxious Woman is the one who is "Lacking In Social Awareness. "  She "was obviously unaware of the other peoples predicaments and that it was rude and inconsiderate of her to do what she did."

Well done!

And as far as the woman who proclaimed your lack of "social awareness," I might have clearly explained to her that if the woman had a legitimate need (ill child, for example), she could have simply asked and all would have gladly stepped aside for her.  And that, Madam, is what "social awareness" is truly about.  ;)

it was good to hear the postmaster stepped up

I wouldn’t be surprised if I heard that the PM has encountered Her Royal Huffiness before.

You did fine Yul.  The last few months I have seen much more rude behavior in our local post office.  Most of the time it involves people arriving with packages not being properly wrapped to shipped and the person/persons being upset when they are told they will have to purchase proper tape or a box.  Several times I have witnessed the postal workers being berated by clueless people.  Fortunately, the ones I have witnessed leave quickly on their own accord after making an a$$ out of themselves.  I, and other customers in line, have voiced support to the postal workers after the "offending person" has left in a huff.

Fat, Obnoxious and Vulgar is reason to be sensitive to a pig to this PC moron? I would have told her to go “jump” herself and to do it with her mouth shut.

I don’t do PC and I sure don’t tolerate obnoxious, self centered pigs.

Since CoVid kicked off there are people that just go out of their way to be buttheads.

Yesterday I was in a liquor store to buy lottery tickets. I put them in Christmas Cards.

There's a skinny guy about my age in there with no mask but he has a bandana tied around his head.

He keeps looking back at me and then he says "So, are you gonna give me a hard time about not wearing a mask with this CoVid stuff going around?"

His demeanor and attitude told me he was hoping I was going to give him a hard time so he could be himself.

I laughed and said "Nope. If you get CoVid that's on you. I hope you're successful.."

He turned to walk out with his beer and then stopped and looked back at me confused.

I ignored him. Maybe after he drank his 12 pack of 16 ouncers he figured it out.

If you have a problem that is that urgent you need to get your priories straight and deal with it before you go to the post office.

kR

PS that is what social awareness should be about.

Had to laugh when I advertised my place for sale in California. Everyone that called about it had no idea where Missouri was much less Truman Lake and Warsaw, they just wanted to get out of the state.

I was in the post office just before Nov 3 election day, there was a line of about 8 people, some were out the door because we were "social distancing". The customer at the counter was DONE with his transaction but was having a conversation about the upcoming election. After a couple minutes I said very loudly, "Could you two quit talking politics, we're all waiting here". The clerk said, "WE have free speech in here", I said, "So do we and we want you to do your job"!! They both gave me a dirty look and I flipped the customer off! I know bad taste, but I was pi%%$#@! They quit talking and he left! It wasn't pleasant dealing with that clerk when it was my turn! :P

I guess 'being socially aware' is the new Leftist  windowlicker virtue signalling phrase that translates into 'allowing a sense of entitlement to continue by inaction'.

Dang! You sure talk pretty...

The socially correct term for her is 'she's a Karen". Karens are those who think they can cut lines, demand to see the manager when they don't get customer service they like, runt he neighborhood, and stick their nose n anyones business. Look up Karen's on YouTube and you'll be entertained while shaking your head. One of my favorites is a women standing at the drive up window screaming about her order being wrong while the building is burning down!

I absolutely detest the Karen meme. JMNSHO but it is one of the cruelist memes out there.  I know to exceptionally nice young ladies whose names happen to be Karen. If you had to suffer all the crap they have in the last year over the childish and hateful meme you would never even mention that meme.
