ORNERY OAF
Hi gang, Sorry I couldn't find the other post. But I was looking for a big 44 cal bullet i could shoot the holy black with. Lumpy grits suggested bear creek, man was he right. I bought some of the 246g 44 Russian bullets, round nose. They already have a poly coating in them so I imagine they would have been fine anyway BUT....out comes the pan lube!!! Threw a few in with the 555g big boy bullets just to check...here we go

Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
Very cool, Ornery! Your post was quite timely! Just getting ready to do the same with a bunch of .50 Maxi-Balls that my son cast up a couple days ago - I have a .50 BMG case with the head cut off that makes a perfect "Kake Kutter" (remember those?). Rummaging about in the garage last weekend I found the lube kit I used to use for .452 bullets for my first Blackhawk ~ pre-Cowboy Shooting. I think I bought this back in the mid-70's; the price sticker from the San Francisco Gun Exchange sez I shelled out a whopping $10.98 for it. Well, I need to make up a batch of lube - and I have plenty of beeswax, Crisco, and olive oil on hand! Do you recall the ratios...?
