The Gestapo is on patrol

I just received a email from one of our range board members.......

Nevada use to be a reasonable place to live......

Top All BRPC RSO, Disciplines and Training:

Today , Thursday, 10 Dec, the Mask Police were at our Range and checking to see if Masks were being worn.

The Nevada State directives at this time require Masks to be worn anytime, either indoors or outdoors.

Until any further directives or issued, everyone must wear a mask anytime they are in contact with any individuals on the range.

If we are not in compliance with this, the Club could be fined and possible lose our permit to operate.

I would like to thank everybody for their cooperation!!!!  This too shall pass someday.

Bob Brown

BRPC BOD

PS.  The inspector was  driving a black unmarked SUV and had a Police patch on his jacket.

Same at our range  but county heath dept.. I installed 32 ft of plexiglass for vid screens  at office counters

...we do a very good job of wearing masks and keeping distance

sporting clays is over a 1000 yards long so we can really space out

but we have had a few  sporting clays shooters  call the county  about others not wearing a mask

we host the local PD range too so they are very nice to us

we have invited them to come see how old school posses shoot

now it has come down to we need to do what ever we need to do to keep our ranges open and stay safe

If your range is publicly owned, you will have much more of a problem on this point.

Our private range has handled things pretty well. Every other station at the ranges. Cleaning supplies. Maintain distance. Masks advised but not required. Limit one guest.

Between some older folks who don't want to come, and perhaps those husbanding ammo, together with the colder and wetter weather, there is modest usage right now; all outdoors and lots of elbow room, so no need for masks anyway (they are not required outdoors here). The small range office, when open, serves out of a window with plexiglas screen. Our range board has handled it well.

We were told by corporate a couple weeks ago to have a mask with us at all times in case we got inspected. Have several in my vehicle and now one in the inside pocket of my chore coat. Haven't seen an inspector yet, but there's always the chance:blink::mellow::blush:

I’ve often wondered how the Germans got the Jews on the trains and to the ovens.  Now I see how the process started.  One constitutional right at a time.  Never waste a good damdimic to erode our civil rights.

When I see threads like this, it's no mystery how we've gone from less than 1000 deaths a day to over 3000 a day.

The mystery is why the places most adamant and demanding about mask usage are the ones where the worst outbreaks are occurring!!!

Nearest large city is run by the Dems.  They have absolute mask requirements, shut down entertainment,  restricted the bars and restaurants, and they have three times, per capita, the infection rate and five times the death rate of that of the outlying towns and communities who operate at a more relaxed, reasonable level.  :o

AND THAT’S ACCORDING TO ALL THE MEDIA OUTLETS!!!!

PLUS ONE for Chicken Rustler

3000 of our friends and neighbors DIED yesterday.  Go Ahead . . . . Tell their families how stupid you think the precautions are.  Let us know how that works for ya.

Thanks, thought that might be it. Shot there at the Black Powder State Championship a few years ago; awesome night shoot! Was hoping it might be some range in the East Bay that I’d missed.

I don't have the answers to the spread issues, and its seems that no one else does, either.  I'm sure that none of you are suggesting that using a mask and maintaining social distancing is somehow causing the virus to spread faster.  Until someone can logically and scientifically explain how the virus spreads, I'll err on the side of caution.

But I respectfully suggest that before we start throwing around terms like "Nazi" and "Gestapo" or analogies to Jews being transported to the ovens, we need to lower the level a bit.  Nothing that has happened comes remotely close to the horrors inflicted by the Nazis and the Gestapo, and or those endured by the victims of the Holocaust.  Hyperbole is not helpful here.

Neither ignoring the losses nor discounting any possibility at this point.

I’ve noticed that the people who are making the rules and decisions are all too often the same ones who take liberties with their own edicts.

Again and again, the parameters  and even the causes, effects, and the methods of transmission have been changed, dismissed, or re-instituted as those in power and those working the problem clutch at straws or chase shadows.

Already, one of the vaccines that was rushed into production and hurried into distribution has produced side effects, (false positives for HIV) and others may or may not do likewise or worse.

I wear a mask when around others, those that I don’t know or that I have doubts as to their possible exposure. I wash my hands often and keep my distance from almost everyone.

I know that this can be a devastating and deadly virus for some.  I have lost friends and relatives as a result of them contracting it.

I’m tired of this being a political football! I’m tired of the media using it as a vehicle to boost ratings and forward their agenda!

I’m sick of the attempts at behavioral modification that some in power are portraying on the nation, using the virus as an excuse!!  I’m fed up with seeing this problem being transferred onto any and every aberrant behavior as an acceptable excuse!!

Finally, politicians and the talking heads in the media have spewed their constant misinformation out of both sides of their mouths for so long now that what and who to believe has become a bigger debate than any other thing this year!!

This was actually only in a phase 1 trial in Australia, but I have no clue on the safety of any of them

My son lost his FIL to it, and now, my  next-door neighbor has it and he hasn't gone out anywhere in months. Strange though, his wife tested negative as of today. He'll be in the hospital for a few more days and then a rehab facility. Needless to say, the wife and I are on pins and needles here. The wife doesn't go anywhere unless really necessary. She sends me. I've had distant contact/interaction with the neighbor's wife so I've been somewhat uneasy all week.:(:blush:

My wife’s oncologist is encouraging her to take a vaccine as soon as one is available!!

The first vaccine was approved just minutes ago, (8:40 CST, 12/11/2020) and our state has committed to front line workers and at risk/seniors receiving it first!!

I’m still leery of her being, basically  a guinea pig for the first one that comes along!!

There are side effects from the majority of medicines on the market. Medicines that have spent years in development and jumped through every approval hoop along the way Still have side effects. Note the TV commercials. My wife’s cancer therapy drugs have a long list of possible side effects.

You have to weigh that against the alternatives.

No rhyme or reason as to who gets it or how badly it will effect them..  My sister had it but her husband didn't catch it even though they live in the same 1300 sq ft house and slept in the same bed up until her test results came back positive.

A few at work have had it. Some pass it to their families others don't. Know a few that died, Some that were real sick, and some that had symptoms less severe than a cold. Like I said there is NO rhyme or reason as to who will or will not catch it.

Know an elderly man that died from it simply because of COVID phobia while in rehab. The staff are so afraid to give, catch, spread it that the elderly entrusted to their care get no attention and have no real interaction with the staff or their families. By the time they actually took notice of how bad he was it was too late to save his life. :(

Exactly. Having been called a Nazi Gestapo Pig more than one time in my career, I cringe when I hear the the terminology from the horror of the Holocaust applied to situations that people simply don’t like or that inconveniences them.

My knee surgeon canceled my replacement because a former patient of his had an almost identical health profile as I including a 7.xx A-1c.  He did the surgery after the patient showed a neg covid test on the Friday of the surgery. The patient didn't feel well, had another covid test 4 days after surgery that was positive. The combination of surgery and covid killed him 2 weeks later. 4 members of my family have had the covid.  None were hospitalized but all were very ill.

I am reminded of the rabbi and his friend the priest who were attending the funeral of mutual friend who was catholic.  When the closing prayer was offered the priest noted that the rabbi crossed himself as any good catholic would do.

When questioned the rabbi said that It was cheap insurance just in case the Jews were wrong.

ya all can try to gloss over the "gestapo like" behavior of certain states if you want to , but we did that in the 30s as well , ignored when neighbors were asked to turn in their neighbors , when government overreach put certain departments in charge of enforcing regulations ,

we did not speak out before and during the war but swore we would not allow it in the future , has it been that long that we forget or the young have never been educated of that ? you californians tell me im wrong , i know we minnesotans know it to be true ,

i get that relating the current climate to the nazis is unsavory - but lets be honest here about who has traditionally used that to slur their opponents - the left does , the same side thats gone nuts with these regulations and their enforcement , next they will set up camps for those of us that disagree with them to isolate us for the good of the country - welcome to socialist communism ,

I lived in Germany in the 1980s as an American soldier, and got to know a few neighbors who either had served in WWII or were children in that era.  Over time we built up trust such that we could talk honestly.  Trust me, tossing around terms like Gestapo and Holocaust applied to America in 2020 are completely out of line.

To me, the most disconcerting analogy between the two eras is a charismatic leader who refuses to acknowledge the voters’ will and whose followers, with his encouragement, are actively engaging in armed threats against public servants.

 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/michigan-protest-jocelyn-benson-secretary-of-state/#app

The Supreme Court, with a 6-3 conservative majority and three appointees from the leader himself, refused to hear the last-gasp lawsuit from 18 Republican attorneys general, and none of the justices wrote a dissent to the refusal.

It is time for everyone on all sides to re-engage in a civilized mature discussion and participate in the political process to move forward.
