Signs of health also exist.  At the last Hole In The Wall match there were six new shooters.  Most were under 40.  A couple of them were under 14.

Any game needs a farm team!

Our club is experiencing the same with 40-50 year olds. A number have signed up too. :)

This conversation has been going on for over 5 years. At the last convention SASS said it was around 25,000 active, paying members. They no longer put a number out.

As membership declines SASS has no choice but to reduce cost, electronic Chronical, and raise dues. They  have fixed costs. But people complain about it.

Speed is the problem, we don't do old school stages, having to dress cowboy puts people off, no ones doing anything to market SASS, members are aging, gun laws, ammo and primer shortage, COVID, on and on.

For me a clear indicator of the sport waining is the number of SASS vendor affiliates or vendors who advertise in the Chronical or the web site is 1/3 of what it used to be. The number of vendors who show up to large shoots has declined.

The number of annual matches has declined. The number of attendees has declined. The number of clubs has declined.

The writing is on the wall 10 years and it won't exist.
