Parler Question

Yul Lose

Recommended Posts

I got kicked off FB a few weeks ago so I moved to Parler, not the same but it is what it is. I’ve had no trouble with Parler updates until I started running on a generator and since Wednesday night have not been able to update to recent posts. Any computer minds out there with any ideas why it won’t update?

I’ve read that some generators do not generate electricity with nice sine waves which some computers like. I’ve never experienced a problem related to that.  Some Hondas (all?) don’t have the problem.  I don’t see how that can be the problem though.

That's odd. I do not see how the generator would make  a  difference in updating a  website.

The little wheel just spins around and it doesn’t update.

Do you use a  WiFi router? Perhaps there's a lot of noise on the power  feed. Maybe  if you bought a power line noise filter or installed a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) to feed power to your router and PC. Maybe this would clear it up.

If your generator is working in tandem with an inverter, and many are, that may be your issue.  MOST inverters produce a square wave or altered sine wave current.  Lots of stuff doesn't like this wave pattern.  We had problems when I worked for the big tour bus company with this and did several things to try to correct the problem.  The UPS packs helped some and shutting off the inverter when running the gen or on shore power worked well  They would just not use their laptops or disconnect the power to them when the inverter was being used.

NOTE:  The inverters were an integral part of the traveling power systems and it was necessary to run them in conjunction with the generator or shore power at times to charge house batteries.

We’ve got the router on an UPS. No other apps seem to care, just this one. I even downloaded a new app and get the same thing. Puzzling.

Okay...I am stumped.

Two possibilities.

1. The Server you are connecting to is in SO-Cal and has been effected by the power outage.  I suspect they have multiple server farms in several locations.

2. There is malware on your devices that is interfering with their app.

I'll connect. I found your real name there. Uh Oh! I also found your alias. Connected with both names. Real name shows membership since 2018 and Yul since 2020. Are they both yours?

I’m  on Parler as Rye Miles. In the last couple weeks the print type has gotten real small. I tried asking parler about it and all they did  was acknowledge that they got the message! Weird site!

If the neutrals and grounds are on the same bus, it will cause interference. Some require a grounded neutral, such as an rv ac. See you tube for a detailed explanation.

I strongly suggest you get a 120 volt receptacle circuit checker to check all your outlets for correct wiring.  It will tell you if the line, neutral & ground are wired correctly.  The neutral conductor is required by code to be connected to the metal service entrance panel & bonded to the earth, 8 ft ground rod or rebar in the foundation.  Therefore, if house/building is up to snuff the resistance between ground conductor & neutral will be near zero.

The small UPS's used in homes/home offices are not line interactive or double conversion type that isolate the load from the power source.  They are offline type which instantaneously switch from input power to inverter & back.  Very few will even have a power conditioner.  Surge suppressors only protect load from power line spikes.  The line interactive & double conversion types use true sinewave inverters & are expensive.

None of the above are even remotely applicable.  It's Simple.  Your Computer and your Generator are conspiring against you.  They don't like you and are planning a Coup.  RUN!!!!

FWIW - Parler (pronounced Parlay) is a replacement for Twitter, albeit a bit more quirky, but definately free-minded.

MEWE is a replacement for Facebook, and while it does have some restrictions (no violence, kiddie porn etc.) it is

as good or better than Facebook in many ways.  There are a couple of military (and veteran) groups, a few SASS

groups, many history and culture groups, etc.  It's not as big as Fb, but you don't have the censorship that Fb has

either.  I went there a few years ago, and just dabbled.  Now I rarely spend more than 30 minutes on Fb (mostly

to see family who haven't or won't leave Fb yet).  It's as easy to navigate, and breaks up chat rooms from postings,

so you can scroll easier.

I got an invitation from a friend to join MeWe. So I looked it up and liked what I read.

I don't know what he's talking about but it sure sounds impressive!

No one pronounces it Parley!

Your UPS may not have liked running off of the generator and introduced noise into the signal.

Now that power is back on, try running off your generator again. Can you reproduce the problem?

Provide some details on your generator... Is this a construction equipment generator or an "RV ready" "inverter" generator?

^^^^THIS^^^^

If the generator was the problem you wouldn't have been able to post to any website. Their website was having issues due to the power outage. Do the above to verify this.

If it was related to your house you would't have been able to access or post to any website.

Parler is not as limiting as Twitter, you can say pretty much whatever you want and they don't question you like FB and Twitter.

Did an experiment a few minutes ago and shut the SDG&E power off and ran on the generator for about 20 minutes and Parler worked fine and that tells me that somewhere in the Parler system they lost power too during the outage.
