Go West
It's been some time since I used 231 which is supposed to be the same. I think I used 5.2 gr.
Trailrider #896
The only 200 gr commercial lead alloy bullet loads I've used with W231 was 7.0 gr that produced MV = 898 ft/sec from a 7-1/2" Uberti M1875 Remington. With 7.5 gr., MV = 951 ft/sec. From a Ruger OM Vaquesro 7.0 gr produced 951 ft/sec, the difference probably due to tighter throats in the Ruger. Stay well and healthy, Pards! Choctaw Jack
My "go to" load for .45 Colt is 6.0 grains of W231, which is the same powder as HP38 ,with a 200 grain RNFP. I use this load in both rifle and pistol .Recoil is very mild ,accuracy very good. Choctaw
The Original Lumpy Gritz
HP38 is the same as WW231. Try 6.0gn with that bullet and a firm roll crimp. OLG
