How far will you go for ammo?

Recommended Posts

I have been constantly searching the internet for available ammo for my existing firearms, and like many of you, found the common sizes to either be completely unavailable, or with high, jacked up prices.

My thought then went to searching for ammo that was readily available, possibly considering purchasing the appropriate firearm to go with it. That's when Dantankerous created a Post that mirrored that exact thought process.

Well, after realizing that wasn't going to solve the problem, I persevered, seeking another source.

Searching deep into the bowels of the GOGGLE pages, I came across a website that had all the ammo sizes I was looking for. :o

Oodles of 9mm, bulk even, along with 38 cal as well as .357 magnum . They even had plenty of Cowboy ammo.

I promptly put a large order in my Cart, completed the order process, and when it got to the shipping address and to what Country.....the United States was not listed!

You see, the website - www.STARGETSHOOTING.com was based in image.thumb.png.0112fbf6ecd32a601f3c270803bd0ef6.png , yes....FRANCE!

Not to be deterred in my quest for ammo, I sent them an email, which read like this, making sure that I included a translation to English as well.

This morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had responded to my request. :)

So you'll never know where your searches will lead you, and although it didn't pan out, it was fun trying. ;)

I walk out to my shop. Lately my routine has been to load 100 rounds 44-40 or .45 Colt a day, it kinda breaks up the wood shop routine.

I have a good inventory in most of my calibers. I wanted to fill out .38 special and .45 Colt some, and have been able to pick up a box at a good price now and then to top them off, especially in the earlier part of the shortage. I still see a few boxes of .38 show up on shelves now and then.

I've always been able to find .44 spl at 2 or 3 places. I have one revolver in .44 spl only, and I also like to shoot it in .44 mag revolvers and in my Marlin 1894 .44 mag. I've always been interested in why .44 spl stays available, because it is readily shootable in .44 mag firearms, which are common enough. But it does....

Where did you find a newspaper?

In the little box under my mailbox!

Kidding aside, the local rag is called "The Daily Courier" which, due to C-19, comes five days a week. Just not on Saturday or Monday.:(

Heads up:  the typo of GOGGLE instead of GOOGLE used to drop you on a porn site...

Here in the PRK, we cannot buy ammo over the internet.  None.
Those living within the Sacramento city limits cannot buy any reloading components off the internet.
(So far) they are even more communist than Sacramento County.

Yes, you can. You just have to have it shipped to an FFL and pay a small fee.

The context was guys in Free states buying and shipping to their homes.
I should have specified this.

Pat is correct, for a fee, you can have it shipped to an FFL.
Then you have to present your RealID to get the $1 background check fee, instead of paying $19.
Most FFL charge an additional fee to receive the ammo.   This is new, because they are getting swamped with it.

I go about 160 feet to my work shop for almost anything I need.  A near shortage of .380, 9mm, and 12 gauge are my only concerns and I frankly have enough of both for most foreseeable requirements.  I'd like a cushion, but probably don't actually need one.

i have a cushion for what i shoot and what i might need in emergency , im looking for SPP to continue a new endeavor but it can go on hold for now , im not hurting for what i shoot in any way , only what i might like to shoot down the road , i can wait for that to come back round on the guitar ,
