Subdeacon Joe
https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/northern-california/oldest-town-in-norcal/?fbclid=IwAR3F8IPj0FNN5Pp7l46jTzxnhpp9kan0qSIOQO2WGc1LRujuV16Oj0aTCh4 When gold was discovered in 1849, thousands of 49ers flocked to Northern California. San Francisco and Sacramento, 2 of the 3 major population centers during the gold rush, are now large cities. The third, however, has retained its small town charm and slower pace of life. It’s changed its name over the years, but the small community of Placerville is full of rich history and has been a great place to visit since its incorporation in 1854. bgavin
Hangtown is right up the road from us. I have ancestor who came through there on his way to the gold rush. I'm told Hangtown went Blue in the recent election.
