Alpo
You are reading one of those "first word" threads. Someone said "pismire" and the response was "kung fu". Would you get it, or would you sit there scratching your head thinking HUH???

Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Nope. I wasn't a kung fu watcher and haven't any idea of the word association with the show.

Subdeacon Joe
Pismire refers to ants. My guess at the connection to Kung Fu is that it was a poetic way of telling someone that they stink.
Alpo
Young Fool (as I always called Caine) was called "grasshopper" by his blind master. In one of the episodes he meets another member of his Temple out in the West. This guy says he remembers Master Po called Caine "Pismire", and he had even carved an ant, about 6 inches long, and gave it to Caine. But that episode was the first time I had ever heard the word pismire, and it stayed in my memory.
Okie Sawbones, SASS #77381
CHEN YI: Why does Master Po call you ”Pismire”? KWAI CHANG CAINE: He does not call me that. CHEN YI: What does he call you? KWAI CHANG CAINE: You know very well. He calls me Grasshopper. CHEN YI: Forgive me. Of course. How could I make such a foolish mistake? KWAI CHANG CAINE: Was it only a mistake, Chen Yi? CHEN YI: What else? And now it is all spoiled. KWAI CHANG CAINE: What is spoiled? CHEN YI: This. I made it especially for you. A gift from Chen Yi to Kwai Chang. KWAI CHANG CAINE: May I see it? CHEN YI: Perhaps you should not. KWAI CHANG CAINE: Very well. CHEN YI: On the other hand…since you insist. KWAI CHANG CAINE: It is a common ant. CHEN YI: Not at all common. A pismire. Not that I think of you as that, of course. It’s just that…I thought Master Po called you pismire. A gift is still a gift.
