DeaconKC
I have a Rossi 92 in .357/.38 that is a pussycat to shoot, but is fussy on OAL of cartridges. It looks like any of our popular rifles will be available in CA, so maybe she can try some out from friends and see what weight gun feels better to her. Ethan Cord
The 1866 is heavy compared to the Rossi or Marlin carbines. Is she ok with the extra weight?

El CupAJoe
if not for CAS, the Ruger 77/357 is a sweet little carbine and is better set up for a scope. Hoot to shoot for sure.
Wyoma
The Marlin 1894 in composite is light, short and with .38's very easy to handle.
Pat Riot
Big Jon, I am not trying to sway your purchase but pistol caliber rifles and carbines are no where to be found in SoCal right now so buying new will be really difficult.
