Visitor At The Shop

Recommended Posts

Walked out to the shop a few minutes ago and this guy was out there in front of the door. I went and got my iPad and he had moved off to the side for me when I got back. Looks like he just ate something.

I usually see the small rattlesnakes like this one in the spring and early summer this is the first little one I’ve seen this late in the year.

Yup definitely got that fresh mouse gut. Is that a Southern Pacific species?

Love snakes. Always have. Used to catch Michigan rattlers often as a kid. We don't see them much anymore.

That is because some freckled face kid caught them all, about 35 years ago.

Moms are like that.

She had the same look on her face when I walked up with a snake in both hands as she did when I fell in the fire. Horror, I believe it was. Lol

I understand the arguments for allowing them to hang around and control the vermin, but geez that fellow would make a gorgeous hatband!!

I’m ok with that, as long as someone else does the wrangling and skinning. Snakes. Things that make me go bbrrrrr.....

That skin sure would look good with the limba wood on my cart.

Just kidding.  I mean it would look good, but you probably aint allowed to kill him.  I'm sure the politicians in california have them on a protected list just out of professional courtesy.

I dropped him off at my doctors office this morning, he relocates them and he told me that they are protected and he said it was only a month or so old.

Down here a local gas station pays $3 a foot for rattlesnakes hide, must take head off before bringing them.

Just one more reason why I don't like southern California, or anywhere in the desert SW for that matter. Two things I do not like encountering in the wild, big snakes and big spiders.
