Disturbing and sickening to me.

What kind of precedent is being set in relation to freedom of association, freedom of assembly, and freedom to worship? Plus given the religious aspect to this and given history I find this makes me sick in my stomach and horribly disturbing. It's not right, not right at all.

I could not open the link, but from the description, it sounds like they are opposing a gathering of Jewish folks. Are catholic, and protestant folks next?

Not sure why, and not sure it can stand up to a legal challenge, if someone has the inflated federal money to hire an attorney.

Of course, some may do it pro-bono.

Questions arise...

Need a search warrant to enter the home?

What would a judge need to hear to issue a warrant, or do they just take the police's word for it?

Are they using Covid-19, as an excuse to prevent groups of folks from gathering?

What are the police looking for...and why are they suspicious that what they may be looking for are in Jewish homes?

Is time travel possible, and is this 1930's nazi Germany?

So many questions....so few answers.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that the police have no obligation or duty to protect us from criminals.  So, where do the police get the Constitutional authority to protect us from a virus?

I support the police, but this fellow should be ashamed of himself for imposing a tyrant’s decision.  Good cops shouldn’t do this.

So....you get a call about too many cars parked along the street...and that escalates into entering a home, without a warrant, and trying to enforce an edict concerning outdoor, public, activities, on folks in a private residence. Sure....makes perfect sense.

I believe I read about this. The folks in the home were having a religious/worship gathering, and some of the neighbors objected to that.

Would that be a case of freedom of religion, or freedom from religion?

Lincoln's view that this government is: "of the people, by the people, and for the people", is seemingly not true in this particular location.

I have to believe that a descent attorney could really make this a miserable decision for those officials that handled it this way.

I wonder what other details, of any, will come out of this.  Be nice to know the real "reasons" why it was handled this way.

Because of the pandemic, the politicians with hidden agendas, the election and the media, we have created a world of extreme stupidity at a unprecedented level.   The civil liability of violating the Constitutional Rights of the person needs to be addressed immediately.  Our police need to go back to addressing the basic mission of placing their customers first and displaying the courage to  do what is right even if it not popular or not enforcing an abuse of power order from a politician or department head.  I better get off my soap box.....I am just a old school retired cop and believe in service first to the community while defending the Constitution..

There is a large Jewish presence in New York. From day one they have actively resisted social distancing as it applies to their observance of the Sabbath and other religious observations. The forced closing of their houses of worship and prohibition of worshipping God as they have for millennia has not sit well with many of them.

The governor and mayor really really have taken exception of this and are actively trying to punish the Jewish community for not blindly following their edicts.

Don't forget that for most of the Jewish community the atrocities of Hitler and Stalin are fresh memories. Blindly following government edicts is something they no longer do.

Yes, but Jews and Catholics still vote for Democrats in overwhelming numbers.

Therein lies the problem. Too many people vote that way because their family has always voted that way, and they don't actually look at the issues, and where the candidates stand on them.

The democrat party of today, is NOT the party of JFK.  Even Reagan said, "I didn't leave the party, it left me."

The meaning of the word "liberal" has changed dramatically (and definitely for the worst)!  Reaction to prejudice and adherence to the ancient precept, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And being only for myself, what am 'I'? And if not now, when?"  especially in the days when many Jews and Catholics labored hard in low-paying jobs where working conditions were bad and even dangerous, or where jobs were not available to them ("Help wanted. No Irish need apply!) caused many of them to become involved in the labor movements and became involved in politics, and became involved with the Democratic party.  This carried over to the Civil Rights movements in the 1950's and '60's. (A number of Jews involved in the marches in the South actually lost their lives!)

As you said, "Too many people vote that way because their families always did."  Problem is, many people haven't taken the time and trouble to dig into the way things are now!  OTOH, many younger adults have been exposed to the newer brand of "liberalism" in schools, so that even those whose parents voted one way, have succumbed to the new radical views and have even switched parties! :o  The result is a lack of understanding of the Constitution and the principles on which our country was founded, and a disrespect for our Flag. Sadly, this has resulted in the election of officials who care nothing for the rights and best interests of the electorate.

While there is no doubt that prudence and safety would argue in favor of the Ultra-orthodox Jews in New York adhering to social distancing and the wearing of masks, etc., but for the local authorities to invade their homes, is beyond the pale...and probably unconstitutional!  With this kind of thing going on, it won't be long before there will be other invasions of our rights and privacies...such as when those who want to abolish the 2nd Amendment start in on the slippery slope!

Obviously, I cannot, on this forum tell you what to do...other than to say, "Be sure to VOTE!"
