I Voted Today

Recommended Posts

We're fortunate in my area to have the resources to vote early in person at select locations. The line was long, but moved quickly so my wife and I were in and out in about 30 minutes. Lotsa voting machines and this crew had their system dialed in. Very efficient.

This may sound trite to some, but I really felt proud after casting my ballot and living in a country where this is possible. Hard to believe there are those who take this privilege for granted.

On a lighter note, I also have this feeling of being a kid again after sending in my boxtops. Now I'm gonna have to be patient and wait six weeks for the results.  :)

We got our ballots in the mail on a Saturday.   Filled them out, put them in the mailbox.   On the 14th I was notified that it had been received by the Registrar and would be counted.   My wife was notified on the 13th.

Since moving to Arizona in 2014, the wife and I signed up for early voting mail-in ballots.  We've had no problems so far and can check online that our ballots were received.  However, just the be sure this year, tomorrow we are carrying our ballots to a ballot drop off location.

Tried to vote at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

The place was a madhouse.

The site is at the First Methodist Church. Maybe the line was long because they were preaching to those in the lines to vote conservative.

Will get up at the navel of dawn, tomorrow (that is earlier than the crack of dawn), and try again.

I love voting. I can vote for someone, or against someone, and I love to cancel out my leftist/socialist/communist relative's vote.

W.K.

My village has mostly Trump signs.  There is one large Biden banner across the street from the polling location.  Nobody steals or burns anyone else's signs.  The polling line was long so poll workers escorted handicapped voters to the front of the line.  No one complained.  I love my village.  It's a peaceful, respectful place.

I was off Monday after getting home late Sunday from a long trip. Went by at 10am to vote early and found only 8 people in line outside with another 8 inside once I got there. Did not take long to get in and vote. When I left there were approximately 25 in line outside. Looks like I picked a good time to arrive.

I voted yesterday.  I too felt proud to see the turnout of voters, even those I suspect are voting for a different candidate.  Vote as if your freedom depends upon your vote, because it does!

When I dropped my ballot off yesterday there were a bunch of other people dropping theirs off as well. It looked like election day, and here we are still two weeks away!

If you listen to either candidate, they’re both saying the same. “Our freedom depends on it!!!”

I have trusted in my country long enough that it will survive whichever candidate wins.

The country will, but will our gun rights?

Oh, good grief!  I'm not overly worried about any of our Constitutional rights regardless of who is POTUS.  Vidilant?  Yes.  By all means.  But I believe our founding fathers drafted a pretty good form of government with checks and balances that protect our Constitutional rights.

No wonder they call the time between the party conventions and election day, "The Silly Season."

I’ll my wife and I voted a week ago yesterday (Tuesday).  It was the second day of early voting, and there was a long line.  It took us 50 minutes.

First:  we have compulsory voting here (registration is required upon 18th birthday).

One day, a while ago, at a Cowboy Action event a lady shooter proudly announced that she votes "informal" which means that her vote is not legitimate and therefore cannot be counted.

She got upset with me when I told her to NEVER let me hear her complain about the government at any level (fed., state, or local).

She wanted to know why(?) and I simply stated that she didn't vote for them AND she didn't vote against them.

I have neither seen nor spoken to her since ..... (and that's waaaaay toooooo sooooooon)

By casting an informal vote she had her name checked as attending but not the headache of deciding who to vote for; and avoiding a the fine for not voting.

I wish I had your optimism.

It has been said, quite factually, that this nation is one election cycle from failure!!  With today's political climate, if certain candidates are elected and manage to get all they want, what we know as a nation today could be gone FOREVER!!!  Our Constitution not binding unless the people we elect do their part to protect it!!

The Supreme Court cannot come sit in front of your house and prevent the violation of your natural rights!!  It cannot force an elected official to uphold or enforce law without the consent of those in power!!  Provided that the enforcement portion of any branch, (something the SCOTUS doesn't actually have) of government is willing to carry out the orders of those in control, we are STILL at the mercy of any malevolent elected official who can give those orders!!  The future of this nation rests on the shoulders of the people we vote into office!

Schoolmarm and I voted today, October 22.  There was almost no line and no delay whatsoever.  As we got in the car to leave, several others appeared to exercise the franchise!  Just hit the polls at the perfect moment, right after lunch!!
