How many derogatory "Toms" can you think of?

That picture of Maureen O'Hara made me think this.

Peeping Tom. He was the guy that looked at Lady Godiva as she rode by.

Doubting Thomas. he was the disciple that did not believe the man standing in front of him with Jesus, because he knew that Jesus was dead.

I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them at the moment.

Aside from the pig thief - Tom, Tom the piper's son.

Being a "Tom" let me be clear about the name Tom or Thomas.

Some of the best people I know  are named Tom. ;)

Thomas means "Twin" or "Leader" in Aramaic. In Semitic and Greek languages it means "Twin".

Famous Toms:

Thomas, the Apostle

Thomas Aquinas

Thomas Jefferson

Woodrow Wilson - Given name Thomas

Thomas Edison

TS Elliot

Sean Connery, given name Thomas

Here are a few more:

Dirty Dog there is the only one that understood my question, apparently.

This was not about good Toms or bad Toms throughout history. This was about bad things you call people that include the name Tom.

You say that somebody is a Peeping Tom, that's a bad thing . Doubting Thomas, bad thing (although not as bad as a Peeping Tom). Uncle Tom, bad thing.

It's like Nancy boy. There's a lot of decent honorable women throughout history named Nancy. But Nancy boy is a derogatory thing to call someone.

"Doubting Thomas" only doubted the other disciples. Once Jesus appeared he no longer doubted and died a martyr's death.
