Not unlike the colors or designs that go into a product on a store shelf that catch your eye and get you to buy it. Remember the "National Coalition to Ban Handguns" and "Handgun Control, Inc"? Those titles imply a rigid philosophy with no compromise. It would not be hard to oppose such a narrowly drawn concept. And lose support. Now let's call it "Everytown for Gun Safety," or "Moms Demand Action." More people can identify with buzzwords like "safety" and a Mom wanting something done. Never mind the goal is the same. Hard to oppose something with "Mom" or "safety" in the title. And now add "common sense" to the buzzword list. In other words, if you own it you can name it. When the communists ran East Germany it was called the DDR. Deutsche Demokratische Republik. Democratic Republic of Germany. Nothing democratic about it, but it sounded good. Link to comment
