USS COLE

After the Cole came out of the yards in Pascagoula, MS it returned to home port in Norfolk, VA.  The homecoming was a huge event, by invitation only.  I was invited by a young man who I mentored and became friends with.  It was a moving ceremony, not a dry eye in the house.  Afterwards he gave me a guided tour and showed me some of the items that were salvaged and saved from the attack, I assume most of them are now with Nave Historical.

A young man, that lived 12 miles east of me, was killed in that attack, and of course I can never forget that.

Let us all remember the event, remember who did it, remember the mindset of those that did it and still try to do it.

Let us remember why they did it. Regardless of what any politician says, regardless of who says what, we all should know why they did it.

Sugar-coating it won't change the facts.

God bless our Navy, and all those that serve: past, present, and future.

May they always stand for truth, justice, freedom, honor, and right.

W.K.
