Pat Riot Posted October 7, 2020 Share Posted October 7, 2020 I used Mobil 1 grease and Mobil 1 5w20 oil on all my guns. Try the oil on your reels. It does not migrate like other synthetics. J-BAR #18287 Posted October 7, 2020 Share Posted October 7, 2020 I’ve been using it in both smokeless and black powder revolvers and rifles with great results. No problems with fouling on basepins, cylinder face, or carrier/bolt in an 1873 rifle after 6 stages.. Washes off with dish detergent and water when cleaning the guns, easy to reapply with a Q-tip. The 1 lb can I bought at Auto Zone for $9 will last for more than a decade. Im not using nearly as much Ballistol these days as I used to. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had driven the car during one winter on regular oil. The winter drive with the mobil 1 in the trans it shifted like it was summer. All that sticky hesitation at twenty below was gone.
