Tonight’s debate...

Charlie Harley, #14153

Recommended Posts

Go load some 38-55 so I have enough ammo to try out my new MVA sights on the Sharps next weekend, or...

Prep for my granddaughter’s first camping trip with us this weekend.  Gotta make sure we have plenty of fun food and blankets for my girl. Or...

Take a shower and curl up with Tom Sawyer. Been a few years since the last time through. Time to get reacquainted with Hannibal.

Such momentous decisions.

Debate will not change whom I will be voting for.

Depending on what Mr. Biden says (or doesn't say).....

and how the debate is run (particularly if it gets obviously pre-ordained)

Some of our fellow citizens of more liberal persuasion may change their minds, though I wouldn't count on it.

In the meantime I will be doing more important things like...

cooking some burgers, watching an old western that I have seen a dozen times, folding my socks or possibly sweeping up the dogs hair in the hallway.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Regards

I already know how I am voting and my blood pressure is good so why subject myself to media manipulated horse apples and bull puckey.

I am watching “The Good Place” with my wife and going to bed at 7:30 PDT so I can get up to go to work at 02:45.

Got a choice of a re-run of CHiPS or Ian McCollum reviewing the Peabody Sidehammer on YouTube.

Hmmmm....  Ian WINS~!!

I already know who I am voting for, so, for me, watching the debate is pointless.

I did not watch the virtual conventions, this year, either.

One thing I think I can say. There have been, in previous years, quite a difference in the candidates, and what they propose, and what they stand for.

I do believe this year the candidates are very different, on most levels.

The person that loves to shoot, loves to re-enact, loves C.A.S. events, or N.M.L.R.A. events, or Mountainman events, or loves to target shoot, or is involved in some of the other shooting sports, or loves to collect them more than shoot them, or saves up for a long time to buy that really quality, unique firearm, that they can pass down to a child, grandchild, or a loved one...should be very aware of who to vote for, and should be very committed to urging his family, and friends, and anyone else they can contact, to vote, this time for sure!

Some would say they are not interested/involved in politics.  I say, if you eat, and if you enjoy the shooting sports, you better be involved in politics, on some level, and you had better vote! This year, of all years, could be the beginning of some real problems for the law abiding firearm owner, unless all of us get out there and vote for the folks that support us, regardless of party affiliation. Regardless of how your Great-grand Pa/Maw, or your Grand Pa/Maw, or your Pa/Maw voted...or who tells you who to vote for, such as your Union, or your favorite athlete, or movie star, or pastor, or role model...you better look at who supports us, and vote for them. Think, and then act, for yourself.

We are in a bitter, and divisive, cultural war, right now, for the future direction of this country. It may just boil down to socialism, or a republic, and we all better be educated enough to know the difference, and to fight for the correct cause.

If we lose this time, we better stock up on Chap-Stick, because that will prevent our firearms from rusting, when we kiss them all goodbye!!!!

I question your perspective with respect to fun!!

This was not a debate.  We deserve better.

About fifty-five years or so ago, when I was enrolled in what was then known as Junior High School, one of my favorite "spectator sports" was something called Forensics.  Not "Forensics" as in autopsies on television crime dramas; rather, this "Forensics" was the art of public address and debate.

Descended from ancient Greek speaking competitions and debates in public fora (which, incidentally, is Latin, not Greek!), these events were exactly that: debates.  Debates with formal rules and a strong emphasis on decorum.

Participants would speak in turn, following established rules and responding to specific questions from the moderator as well as having opportunity to provide closing arguments.

So what we have now is a total divergence from civilized discussion between two "gentlemen" who are supposed to be the best our nation can put forward to lead us into the future.

Not only am I extremely disappointed in them both, but in the media itself for allowing... no, promoting!... such a rooster fight.

The "moderator" should have a switch that will allow only one microphone at a time to be live - and fairly, with time limitations, allow each candidate opportunity to respond to questions and speak without interruption.

In other words... force 'em to behave like eighth-graders.   -_-

I'm a diehard card-carrying right wing Conservative, and I have to say that Joe Biden won this debate.  Have to watch the next ones to see if that remains true.

I made it almost 60 seconds and shut it off, after both of them had interrupted the other at least three times.

Started watching it, lasted maybe 9 minutes.

The moderator needed to exert more control in the first couple minutes and I could see he was not going to succeed once the tone was set.

I watched for about 30 seconds.  I don't know why they have a moderator, there was no control that I saw.

I don't need a debate to help me make a decision.

Guns, No guns.  Choice is simple.

Howdy,

I think it would have been better to have Drew Barrymore as moderator.

I just kinda like lookin at her....

And control would have been about the same.

I took politics out of it and I just looked at it as an observer.  To me, Trump came across as a very angry person, needs to lighten up a bit and appear to be a bit more presidential.  To me, Biden appeared more personable.  Don't get me wrong, if I was an American citizen, I would be a Republican.
