Oregonian
For sale is a beautiful Marlin 39-A Mountie (Takedown) .22 Caliber rifle. This Mountie has an 'S' serial number (S23864) and was manufactured in either late 1958 or early 1959. It is in truly remarkable condition for its age. It appears to be all original with a 20" barrel, an excellent bore, and the signature golden trigger and bullseye. The wood is excellent, with only very minor dings, no chips, cracks or other issues. The metal is very, very nice with only minor nicks and scratches. The screw heads are excellent and look untouched. This was my squirrel, rabbit and plinking rifle when I was a teen, and the rifle with which I taught my sons to shoot. I will miss this one, but its time for someone else to enjoy it. You would have to look long and hard to find a nicer one. $995 shipped to your FFL.

Oregonian
Hey Bailey Creek. I bought this in the early 1970's from a neighbor. No box, no scope. I wasn't aware that a scope even came with this rifle when new. I also had a Winchester 94-22, which had a scope. I actually preferred the Mountie. I agree that they are a fantastic lever .22 Cal. Capt'n Rudy
That’s a beautiful rifle. Haven’t seen one in that condition! I have one with serial S7247 which has a Marlin rail and a Weaver “Tip-Off” mount with a 2x Weaver scope. Mine is not in near the condition of yours. The rifle came off a boat in the Florida Keys with some rust and also termite holes in the stock. I refinished the stock and reblued the entire rifle. It’s a wonderful shooter and gets a lot of looks at the range. Best of luck with your sale. Someone will be very pleased.
