X Mark
I see where they're having a shoot with an "Outlaw" category. Would someone educate me on what constitutes an outlaw position for rifle and shotgun ? I am familiar with it for pistols but am not sure and about the long guns. Thanks in advance for your comments
Marshal Hangtree
Shotgun cannot be brought up to normal level for sighting, but rifle can.

You been shooting with Cactus Red or Loose Cinch? They are big on shooting rifle from the hip.
Mister Badly
Thanks. I've shot with a number of them including Loose Cinch. Saw him shoot a small target near the back berm for a 5 second bonus from the hip. Very cool. I haven't shot a match since spring due to being quaranteamed with my family. I setup a bay for each match and practice. This was my third time practicing outlaw.
Mister Badly
I've heard there are some places that don't/can't allow hip shooting the rifle because of lower berms.
X Mark
Nicely done ! I am working on the rifle but it may take a while................. Mister Badly
It's a 24" 1873 octagon barrel rifle with a leather butt stock cover. The weight out front and the cover makes it easier to lock into my side.

Imis Twohofon,SASS # 46646
I can NOT hit the berm from the hip. I guess I have to keep up the simulated aiming. Imis see yall later this week
Tn Tombstone
There are plenty of ranges that will not allow the pistols shot from the hip, many more will not allow the rifle shot from the hip. One round over the berm and Outlaw can me shut down. Please be careful out there. Most matches I register GF and shot the pistols and SG from the hip, rifle from the shoulder. I dont say anything on the first stage either. If they dont know what I am about to do they cant really say anything and if I will slow down a little I can hit most of the targets so they get over the hip shooting.
