And people wonder why we have the Electoral College and two Senators from each state.

That's right.  Without it, 3 or 4 big states would run the country the way those three big cities run California.

So you ask why did I move from California when I retired?

We need a " Hotel California" law. You can move there any time you want, but you can never leave.

I believe “executive orders” apply only to those in his direct chain of command;  state employees in the executive branch.  Am I correct on that?  Legislators make laws, not the governor (or President for that matter).  Please educate me if I am wrong but that point was made pretty forcefully in my 10th grade Civics class.  If I am correct, most of California should be responding with a 3rd digit salute.

DACA is an Obama EO. It's not legal, he even said so.

Just sayin.....

Courtesy of my wife.  I sent her your photo and one of Newsom I looking in about the same direction. Good enough?  Or too subtle?

She said the real trick was matching the graininess and grayscale of the Emperor Norton photo.

Not bad, Joe... certainly much better than I could have done!  But can she do it with Gav's whole face - minus Norton's beard?   :)

Mebbe something like this...?

They'll just stack them up somewhere in a leaky warehouse and forget about them.   Right next to the ammonium nitrate warehouse.

This makes me wonder, if airplanes have solar powered engines, what happens when they fly into a cloud/storm ?

A body has to contenplate these things. It could make Boeing's problem with the 737 MAX look like kindergarden.

Don't forget all of those diesel powered ships at the ports and those nasty trucks that's always moving to and from the ports.  Gotta do away with them, too.

Oh! And the diesel fueled farming equipment,  too.  And cows- they fart out too much methane.

No question, California has problems. The term Californicated California comes to mind.

Not rightly certain that is possible, but that fact doesn't rule some dim wit trying it.

Badger, All you got to do with them planes is get a really big rubber band. Then you put a notch in the nose of the plane and launch them like we did those balsa wood one we had as kids.

Wife and I just moved out of Los Angeles in 2018. About had it with everything out there. It's a single party system, which is its downfall. Republican candidates don't exist, so there's nobody to keep the Democrats in check. So they boost their interests with no consequence, at the people's expense. Small businesses can't survive because the big corps impose regulations out the backside that the mom and pops cant keep up with.

Our founding fathers relied on 'checks and balances', including the two party system, and as long as one doesn't exist to keep the other honest, bad things start to happen. I support our fellow Democrats in that theory alone. They keep us honest.

All that said... I try my best to stay out of politics, as I'm a career scientist and I think my opinion on running a population is worth the same as a politician's opinion on science (absolutely nothing). I'm independent and will be that way til I die.

But I can tell you one thing. It sure is nice to finally be a free man out here

I can mill my own black powder, fish off of a sidewalk, smoke a cigar on my front porch, and its good to see all the small businesses around me succeeding (pre pandemic). My new area has a high concentration of micro breweries and micro distilleries. Guess how many micro breweries were allowed in LA? The only one I knew of in 2015 (Golden Road) was bought out by Budweiser, and it was a multi million dollar operation.

They were charged by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner, who is yet another local whose campaign was bought and paid for by several of Soros' organizations.  She's a socialist who spits on the Constitution daily.

He's a liberal democrat.  He believes he knows what is best for you, even though he, like as not, isn't your daddy. He wants to rule, and run your lives from cradle (provided you aren't aborted) to grave. So...considering all that....yep...I guess he IS a king, after all.

I really have no real understanding of how it got this way, out there.

You Pards that live there, are all in my prayers.

You can vote, every time, no matter if you think it does any good or not....or.....you can try to leave.....or.....you can endure it.

There is an old saying: "The eternal choice of mortal man: to endure oppression....or to resist."

W.K.

I've had ties to California since 1955 when I was adopted by a family living in Buttonwillow, CA.  Lived here till I went in the Army in 1970. Went to live in Massachussetts until 1996 when the wife and I moved back to CA. I didn't realize until after we'd been here a while how much it had changed, and boy has it gotten way worse the last 24 years.

I say that to say this:

I love everything about California except the politics. The country, the scenery, the people away from the coastal cities. And I get really tired of people painting everyone in this state with the same brush.  Yes, California is ruled by SF, LA and SD while the rest of the state is there to shut up and do as they're told. Sanctuary policies, illegals welcomed with open arms and  kneeling at the altar of climate change has made the political situation as close to a third world cesspool as you can get.  But, California is more than those three dumpsters. We just don't have the numbers to compete with importation of millions that have been sold on the "free stuff", the protection from consequences of criminal behavior be it immigration, assault, etc, etc.

Will California survive the reign of Gruesom? I don't know. It depends a lot on the results of Nov 3, 2020.  But the wife and I will survive. Like I said, I love California, and every election we cast our vote, hoping that maybe this time there will be enough to make a difference. But to be honest, if we could afford it, and I could convince the wife to leave friends and start anew, the only thing California would see of us is the rear license plate on our pickup.  But since I can't, we have to keep our heads down, be as prepared as possible, and keep fighting for sanity anf fairness in this once great state.

this will end any dreams of President Newson

he needs to remember how much $$$ CA make from Gas taxes and sales taxes on gas

how much $$ cities get sales taxes from cars and trucks

Tesla does not need mandates to sell  cars the 2020 model S is the faster car you can buy for the $$$$

while the Chevy volt is  a POS  it may take GM down again

Much like Illinois is run by Chicago. I hope someday to see both our states split for the better of the folks who want to be free of Socialism.

He's no more a liberal nor a Democrat than I am.

Liberals are folks like Alan Dershowitz- patriotic Americans that disagree on policy or approach.  As for the Democratic Party, it's been usurped by radical Leftists, all out Socialists, anarchists looking for a chance to tear things up for the sake of tearing things up and elitists like himself that think being a Democrat or a Leftist is simply a vehicle to them taking, and holding, power over those that they feel are beneath them (sometimes referred to as 'Limousine Leftists').

For the rest of the country it is!

There's times where the idea of building that border wall along the crest of the Sierras instead of the Mexican border has a certain appeal.
