Ruth Bader Ginsberg has passed away.

Trailrider #896

Recommended Posts

Madam Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has passed away at age 87.  Whether you agreed with her views or not, she was a courageous lady right to the end.  Condolences to her family.  Not sure what this means as far as appointing a successor to the SCOTUS...how quickly could a replacement be named and confirmed by the Senate? RIP

I didn’t agree with her at all but she was a trailblazer for women. RIP Justice Ginsburg.

I will reserve my personal opinions out of respect for the esteemed position of Associate Justice.

Rest In Peace, Justice Ginsberg. Thank you for your service.

She and Scalia were good friends despite their differences!  The nation would be better if others could emulate them.

It WILL be a colossal battle with elections so close at hand!!

I expect things to move quickly.  Candidates for her chair have undoubtedly been vetted and ranked.   The newscasters  of all persuasions will be frantic right up to the election.  Politicians on all sides will get lots of tv interview time.  The new justice will think Mr. Kavanaugh had an easy time by comparison!!

It will be entertaining to watch.  Since the Republican Senate stole a SCOTUS seat from Obama during his last year in office, I expect the Democrats will have a fit when the Republican Senate tries to push this through.

Truer words were never spoken. We as gun owners better hope Trump puts up a strong 2A candidate and McConnell has the backbone to ram it through.

I believe that a replacement this term is very, very unlikely.  Extremely unlikely.

I believe the Democrats under Harry Reid pulled that stunt first.

Her service to this country deserves our respect.

I'll leave it at that.

While I think she allowed her politics to color her decisions more than I would like, and I didn't agree with many of her opinions, she was rock solid in her reasoning and sharp as a razor.
A hard spot to fill.

Murkowski says she won't support a vote for a replacement, be surprised if Romney doesn't flake. But McConnell says there will be a vote. President to announce a nominee in a week. Ironic the she is being name called and raged at tonight by many on the left who are saying she should have retired under Obama. Condolences to her family and friends, RIP.

Since her death was expected I’m sure that her replacement has already been picked and vetted. A new justice will be appointed within a month

I was truly hoping she would retire, long ago. Just because I disagree with someone, I would never wish them to pass away.

Ideally, we wish them to change their mind, or, as I said, retire.

This may open a possibility of a more conservative justice to be on the Supreme Court. To me, that is a good thing.

Whoever the President announces for the job, it will never be accepted by the liberal/socialists in Congress. So, as usual, they will

start their character assination, as soon as the candidate is revealed. Like as not, someone from the distant past will bring up allegations of

an intimate nature...unless perhaps the candidate is a woman...but even then you never know. Not too difficult to figure out why some folks wait years and years to bring this to the attention of the media. If something that bad happened, why did they wait to bring it all out? Seems to happen every time.

I wonder if we should consider money, and "fifteen minutes of fame", as being two of the "reasons" why this is brought up years, and years after it allegedly happened?

Liberals are so predictable. Same thing, over and over. Well, you know the old saying about what one definition of insanity is....

Looks like all this is shaping up to be a dual cow-chip slinging event. One for the election, and now one for the Supreme Court nomination.

Question is: how fresh will the cow-chips be?

W.K.

I'm capable of refraining from waxing political on such occasions. She was an amazingly strong woman. Her fight with cancer for so many years is inspirational.

She did what she thought was best for her country and for humanity.

May she Rest in Peace.

Justice Scalia was a fortunate man. The world needs more friendships like between him and Justice Ginsberg.

Rest In Peace, Your Honor.
