Explaining to my dog.

So I just spent two minutes explaining to my dog that the neighbors own the property across the road and they can be there and do yard work there, just like we own our property over here..................................................I'm sure it will work this time.

My dog has issues with squirrels and cats. Crows, doves, songbirds and lizards are okay. So was the baby possum that stayed in our yard for a few days. But squirrels and cats must die! Of course she’s too old, arthritic and fat to catch any of them.

She barks at the mailman on occasion but not too often.

April barks at almost anyone passing by,  and when she hears critters at night.

She likes to sit on the back of the small couch in the patio where she ca see the sidewalk,  the cul-de-sac,  the intersecting sidewalk about 30 yards to the south.   And, because of all the glass in the patio, she can see the reflection of people approaching from about 20 yards to the north.  Barks at almost anything person or dog that comes into her view. There are a couple of dogs that when they pass by she sits up like a Prarie Dog and barks.

Doesn't bark at cats or birds.

She also doesn't bark outside.

That's funny..we can relate to that ..one of our dogs 'Kookee likes to set herself up on a chair on the verandah come night time.

She has a deep growl & with her bark sounds pretty scarey...my wife is constantly going outside to tell her' unless it's in our yard be quiet otherwise you can chew it's leg off..the look on Kookee's face is priceless !!!

Jezzy loves people! Their purpose is to pay attention to and pet her.

She vigorously dislikes other dogs!!

She will joyfully approach any human, but she’s liable to try to eat their dog!!

She was rescued from some lowlife dog fighter!!

Sounds exactly like Worthless. Likes all people. LOVES children - the younger the better.

If I'm walking her between 5 and 5:30, when people are coming home from work, it gets difficult. She believes that the only reason that someone would stop their car and get out is because they saw her and want to pet her.

But she firmly believes that she is the alpha dog of the world. And it is her duty to explain this to every other dog.

Couple days ago we're walking down the street this car pulls up behind us and turns into the driveway. Dog stops.

Car door opens and lady gets out. Dog drags me over there.

We meet at the foot of the driveway, and I explained to her that the dog believes the only reason she stopped her car and got out was because she wanted to pet dog. Lady said that sounded reasonable, and leaned down to pet the dog.

Then dog goes down on her back for a belly rub. Lady straightens up, said she has to go get the mail, and walked off toward the mailbox.

Dog lay there looking pitiful for a moment. You could see by the expression on her face - but, but, but, BELLY RUB!!!!

And the lady got her mail and walked up to her front door and went inside the house.

He's not 'barking' at them,  he's just telling them, "I see you/ I saw you do that."  He knows that they belong over there.  He is just being a good supervisor.

Raylan, I know exactly what you mean.  I had my wife explain it to Jake when he was just a pup.  But, you can see on Lizzie's face that she doesn't believe Momma's words are going to get through to the boy.

My dog has this habit of sitting on his hind legs and raising his paws  to be petted. That goes over big with the ladys we meet. Too bad I didn't have him when I was single.

 I'm single, ........ can I borrow him .......  ;)

Neighbor's dog clearly though I had no business in the lower part of my yard adjacent to his.  No problem - just doing his job.  Anyway, my cat got him back.  Arthur would traditionally sit about 3 feet away from the corner of his fence.  Just sit there.  While the dog went nutz.  Every time.

Short answer... maybe. Long answer.. he had to have cucumbers and lettuce at yappy hour every day, plus pumpkin, string beans, and pineapple with his dog food 2 times a day, 5:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Has to sit on your lap to watch TV, (hes 60 pounds) and rides in the FRONT of the pick up.

Real answer... Aint gonna happen Amigo.

My wife’s CKCS, on the other hand, is a Socialist.  He lies around expecting his parent govt (wife and me) to constantly provide for him while he lies around sleeping and providing no service (he doesn’t protect or guard the house).

Well, that explains something...  I evidently have 2 1/2 Socialist Dogs masquerading as Cats.
