Two of these guys buzzed our drop zone in Bavaria in ‘68. Our Colonel was hopping mad. I thought he was going to have a stroke!

Fortunately, the good Colonel didn't see me grinning. 

Or hear my softly muttered, "Ausgezeichnet";)

Germans called them "the widow makers."  They didn't understand that you couldn't land them as slowly as other planes.

We had a German pilot buzz our DZ at Gablingen Kaserne, back in '59, during training.

Came in tree top level and dropped down a few feet.

Someone got the tail numbers.

Col Ward was not a happy Regiment Commander. 

Maybe that was some kind of initiation for German pilots.

Buzz the Yanks and get a beer.
