Since my son had a sore throat I took a shot glass, filled it halfway with local honey and brandy and heated it in the microwave for 12 seconds and had him drink it. They say hot liquid kills the virus and the honey coats the throat and the brandy kills the germs. He said it helped for about an hour each time. Made him queezy in the stomach though. Imagine biting into a honey-coated hunk o' green persimmon. When it came time for my second dose I experienced a most miraculous recovery and zoomed out the door and off to school. One use is in making pickles. Recommended limit is 1/4 teaspoon per quart of pickling liquid; more than that may make the pickles a tad bitter . I got that in one dose!
