Tom Payne 13115
Who makes an oversized version of this screw??
Tex Jones, SASS 2263
Hi, Tom. It's been a long time. Zach Taylor has kept me up to date and I'm glad to learn everything worked out. I'm not sure what you mean by "oversized". Your best is to call Eddie Janis at Peacemaker Specialists. He might be able to guide you. Take care. Tom Payne 13115
Hello Tex great to hear from ya!! I am doing well thank you!! Surgery went well and I am as right as rain!! At one time some one was advertising a screw that had a large knurled head for the BP Frame so it could be removed without a screw driver. Sound familiar?? Goody, SASS #26190
I know that Uberti provides both with their BP framed clones. Don't know that I've ever seen one that is same thread to fit Colt. You may be able to find a machine screw with proper threads, cut to length, taper the point so it will lock the base pin, and solder a nut or similar to the head to facilitate turning. Sure would be easier if someone made one, though.
Abilene, SASS # 27489
Pietta makes the knurled screw as well, but I don't know if that one fits Colt, either.
Tex Jones, SASS 2263
Tom, Call VTI and see if they have the knurled screw (should be Uberti, but Pietta has one as well). I bought a new SAA in 45 Colt last year and as an experiment, I exchanged the grip frame and trigger guard of the Colt with the equivalent parts from a Uberti, and they both fit. The Colt is on the left with the Uberti parts and vice versa. Some parts that fit Colt's parts can be had from VTI. Say hello the boys and girls from me. Hope to catch you sometime in the near future, EOT? Tex
Patagonia Pete
Try this thread ... it discusses the thread sizes on different gen BP frames and solutions for worn/loose fitment. https://www.coltforum.com/threads/base-pin-screw-size-early-1st-gen.256761/
