Chas B. Wolfson, SASS #11104
A priest and a rabbi were sitting next to each other on anairplane. After a while, the priest turned to the rabbi and asked, "Is itstill a requirement of your faith that you not eat pork?"The rabbi responded, "Yes, that is still one of our beliefs."The priest then asked, "Have you ever eaten pork?"The rabbi replied, "Yes, on one occasion I did succumb to temptation andtasted a ham sandwich."The priest nodded in understanding and went on with his reading. A whilelater, the rabbi spoke up and asked the priest, "Is it still a requirementof your church that you remain celibate?"The priest replied, " Yes, that is still very much a part of our faith."The rabbi then asked him, "Have you ever fallen to the temptations of theflesh?"The priest replied, "Yes, rabbi, on one occasion I was weak and broke with my faith."The rabbi nodded understandingly and remained silent, thinking about fiveminutes. Finally, the rabbi said, "Beats a ham sandwich, doesn't it?" What factors are you thinking about, Pat? The bacon might be served with two eggs and wheat toast. It might be thick sliced and pepper cured. It might be uncured and cooked into a dish as pork belly. Or, if it’s really lucky, it might be Benton’s Bacon from Madisonville, TN. http://bentonscountryham.com/about.html It’s been said that Benton’s Bacon would make a rabbi give up his vows, probably faster than the priest would renounce his. punxsutawneypete
Father Ryan and Rabbi Goldfarb had been friends for 30 years. One day they were attending an ecumenical conference and it was time for lunch. As they were going through the buffet line, Rabbi Goldfarb made himself a pastrami on rye, and Father Ryan made himself a ham and swiss. cheese sandwich. They sat down together and Father Ryan said, "Rabbi Goldfarb, when are you going to try some of this wonderful ham?" Rabbi Goldfarb replied, "At your wedding, Father."
