Kansas City Munny
Has anyone modified a Stoeger Coach Gun stock? Specifically, reducing the 2X4 feel and rounding and reducing the shape and size of the wrist and for end? Thanks! KCM
watab kid
never thought to bother but i can see where you might choose to , i doubt it would be a big problem if you dont overdo it
Lunger Dan
Only modification Ive done to the stock is to cut a negative cant on it...helps greatly with recoil bruises.
Ozark Okie
Hey Munny, I thinned my Stoeger forearm...now fits my hand much better. Took off approx 1/8" on each side, without getting into "checkering". Did it by masking the area I wanted to reduce and then using flat bed of belt sander. Eyesa Horg
I sanded all the checkering off mine and added a thumb groove sorta like my hunting shotguns have. Then refinished with Tru-Oil. Looks nice I think. I hated the stamped checkering and reddish lame finish.
Kansas City Munny
Great job on the fore end! That's really what I'm after. I'd also like to change the 2X4 feel at the wrist. Probably shoot the Stoeger this weekend, then pull the wood and see how it goes. I do have some nice walnut stain, linseed oil and bee's wax... Diamond Jake
I've been milling my own walnut; plan to make revolver grips out of some of the prettier wood. Might be the same for my Stoeger SXS.
Gayle Lady T
I hadn't thought about doing this, but after reading the results, I think I'll work on mine! thanks for the inspiration.
Kansas City Munny
I'm surprised more people have not done any work to the chunky Stoeger stocks. Seems there a plenty in service and most CAS shooters are pretty handly.
BLACKFOOT SASS #11947
I have modified some to make a straight stock ,(English style) instead of pistol grip. It keeps from banging my fingers with the back of the trigger guard. Blackfoot
