2+2=5 so they say.

So learned that math is racist and that 2+2=4 is part of white supremacy. That 2+2 can sometimes equal 5. So a movement has been started to teach kids in school aboutmath white supremacy and that 2+2=5.  Reading it all I was left feeling like this:

I had an instructor in college that used to remind us that 1+1=3 for large values of 1.   It was one of those lessons that the less flexible engineers couldn’t understand. What they failed to understand was it is a lesson in being flexible and understanding that there isn’t always a precise answer to every problem.

Common core math is awesome!

As long as your answer makes you happy the answer is correct.

Actually "as long as you make the Woke happy."  All else are common core incorrect.

Howdy,

I once saw a very involved equation that proved 1 equals 2.

The professor talked us thru it and it sure did seem right.

Then he pointed out that he had divided by n-1 where n equals 1.

That is dividing by 0 which is an illegal thing in mathematics.

Gotta watch what they are slinging.

Best

And you get a gold star to go with your answer.

Sister Mary Teckla  didn't buy into that theory though.

In accounting, we call it “rounding”, while 2+2 better equal 4, by gum.

Those who think common core math is a good thing should be forced to fly in a plane designed and built using the "precision" of common core math.  :P

put an apple , and a orange on the desk , stuck a Buck 110 , twixt em , and said make a da** grapefruit

he FAILD to do it , still passed the class

But there is a precise answer to 1 + 1, and it isn't 3.

not to be a stickler for the formalities, but that isn't exactly true.

1.000 + 1.000 = 2.000.

But if we are talking about unspecified numbers like "1" as opposed to "1. or 1.0", then  "1" can easily be a rounded off 1.499.

1.499 + 1.499 = 2.998.

If you round off that last equation, you get 1+1=3.

It is all about the precision (either implied or explicit) of the frame of reference.

Everything is politics to Socialists and Marxists.  One objective is to redefine everything in order to destroy the old paradigms

1 + 1 sometimes also equals 1 :o :P
