Voting ID discussion

It's only a  burden to a  certain type of politician or newscaster. They can't find their arse with both hands and think everyone else is the same way....either that or they want  nefarious practices to help them stay in power. It's one of those two, I'm sure. :P

They state / insinuate that we are racist for supporting the voter ID law, as well as mail in ballots, etc.  when in fact they are promoting racism by making it appear that the very people the are "standing up for" are to lazy, stupid, or uninformed to get their ballot to the mail box or drop off point on time, or that they are in fact unable to qualify for a suitable ID......or too stupid or lazy to get off their butts an go get one.

I'm sick and tired of being called a racist because of my age, race, education, work history, social standing, political beliefs, and many other causes.  If I am being so branded what do I have to lose be actually becoming a racist?

FYI: Photo ID is a requirement here in Canada, for municipal, Provincial and Federal elections.

How about other countries whose citizens are on this site?

How about chiming in?

Seriously? Where do you live but you have to show ID for all this crap?

• Admission into a Hospital
• Adopt pets or humans
• Apply for a Fishing License
• Apply for a Hunting License
• Apply for a Job
• Apply for a Mortgage
• Apply for a Permit. What sort of permit?
• Apply for Food Stamps
• Apply for Medicaid
• Apply for Social Security
• Apply for Unemployment
• Apply for Welfare
• Board an Airplane
Buy a Car.   Need ID to register it, but to buy it? Car lot maybe, but buying out of the classifieds all I need is money.
• Buy a Cell Phone.  Never heard of a burn phone?
Buy a Gun.   At the gun shop. But again - ad in the paper? Money.
• Buy a House or Condo
Buy a Prescription. I seldom am sick, so seldom need a prescription. But the last few times I have had one, all they've needed to see at the drug store was the prescription.

Buy Alcohol
Buy an "M" Rated Video Game
Buy Cigarettes

• Buy Spray Paint

• See a 17-NC Movie

These five are simply about age. if you look like you're 17 or so you probably are going to have to show ID. I'm in my sixties. if somebody wanted to see ID before I could buy any of that crap I'd leave the store.

• Buy Insurance
• Check Out Library Books
• Donate Blood
• Drive a Car
• Get Married
• Have Surgery
• Join a Union
• Lease a Car
• Open a Bank Account
• Open a Utilities Account
• Outpatient Testing
• Pawn an Item
• Register a Car
• Rent a Car
• Rent a Hotel Room
• Rent a House or Apartment
• Rental Equipment
• Social Services
• Take a Cruise
• Visit a Casino
• Visit a Doctor
Visit an Amusement Park. You gotta be kidding.
Write a Check.  Have not shown ID to write a check in over 20 years.

I live in CA, and I'm age 70.
I still get carded for buying spray paint.
If you buy a car from a dealership, you have to show ID.
It is a crime here to buy a gun without going through FFL.

I don't know where "Redneck Riviera" is located, but you have a lot more freedoms than we do in the PRK.
Those who live (and stay) in the free states, really have NO clue as how many of our freedoms have been confiscated in Democrat controlled states.
Like you, they find it incredulous.. only to wake up one day, and find it has gone nationwide.

I'm not trolling you or being disrespectful when I say "clueless".
You expressed being incredulous and indignant about the above. indicating you are not exposed to this, and would walk out.
This ID checking apparently does not happen in your area, but it is very much in play in mine, and so many other Leftist states.

I truly do not understand the oft-spouted argument that requiring an ID to vote will "disenfranchise" voters of a "minority" persuasion, and that such a requirement would frighten them from participating.

And yes, I've read the ACLU's "fact sheet."  Some of their points may have merit (like inconsistency in acceptable forms of ID) ~ pretty much fixable.  Otherwise, much of what they say could have been contributed by members of the Flat Earth Society.  <_<

But it's not the just voting part that's vulnerable - it's the voter registration.  I've read that there could be as many as a million "illegitimate" voters in California.  I'd be surprised if it was anywhere near that number, but whatever the number is, it's likely significant.

I don't live in California any more.  Lots of reasons like these, none of which make any sense whatsoever.

When people trying to stir up trouble with that stupid Voter ID is racist BS, just inform them that people need Government Issued ID to even register to vote!!

Democrat operatives tried to stir up trouble about Voter ID laws here in NJ, which is a deep blue state, but they crawled back under their garbage can when they realized NJ requires ID to register.

Did any of you see the Watters World episode when he interviewed students in Berkeley, CA and black citizens in Harlem about requiring IDs to vote?

The students thought it was racist. The citizens in Harlem thought it was reasonable and all knew where DMV was; so they could get IDs or DLs.

In California, they give IDs to undocumented immigrants!!  Then they allow these non citizens to vote.  This skews the vote tallies in favor of those who cater/pander to these improperly “registered” voters!!

SAY IT AIN’T SO!!

While distracted about voter ID, think about this one a bit...

Democrats succeed in passing vote-by-mail scheme for the entire country.
The post office is overloaded, and weeks go by with votes still coming in after the election.

January 20, 2021 arrives and no winner is picked.
Nancy Pelosi invokes the 20th Amendment and becomes the President of the United States.

If you think we have bad riots now....

I'd be surprised if it were less.  Remember, I lived there for forty years and watched it fall into communism a tiny little bit at a time.

Ditto to that.
I've been here since 1967, and seen the same.
It was a huge difference coming from Idaho high schools to Marin County high school.

Redwood, San Marin, or Tam?

And other than my "formative years" spent in Texas, I've been here since 1951.  ;)

Ha!

You're an old fart like me!  ^_^

Had a couple of frat bros from Marin... Bill W, Tam '69 and Mike S, San Rafael '69.  I was an Eastbay boy.  We used to haunt the docks in Sausalito.  It was a different place back then.
