Charlie Harley, #14153
A month or so ago, someone started a thread about the origins of our aliases. Mine was taken directly from my great-grandfather, Charlie Van Bowen Harley, who served as a deputy US marshal out of Fort Smith, Arkansas in the late 1890s-early 1900s. This past weekend we were digging through old photos and came across a few. The first is Charlie at the courthouse, along with 11 other lawmen. He’s in the front row on the right, the only one without a neck tie. You can see the steps on which it was taken if you scroll through photos on this web site. https://www.nps.gov/fosm/learn/historyculture/judge-parker.htm Harley is my given middle name after my maternal grandmother’s maiden name. Thank you sharing this moment of family And alias history.
