Playing "Army" or "Cowboys" with toy guns . . . right out in public . . . where someone might become frieghtened . . . and . . . no, I guess nobody was frieghtened.

Winning wasn’t wrong!

Wanting to win was expected.

Doing your best meant you didn’t just participate!

Ice skating on public ponds.

Stick ball in the street!

Pilfering a watermelon.

Getting caught pilfering a watermelon!!

Getting your butt busted by any neighborhood mom!!

Getting your butt busted again when you got home ‘cause some other mom had to bust your butt!!

Rotary dial telephones

Milk home delivery

Pretzels and potato chips in metal tins

Monkey bars

Real sparklers

Only two gender choices on forms......

Roads that were made with some kind of tar and the sharpest rocks they could find imbedded in it.

 

Fishing from shore or seawall without getting hassled by the cops or property owners.

 

Being able to go into a locally owned hardware store that had knowledgeable employees.

 

$1.50 a carload light at the drive in.

 

Movies that had intermission.

That road repair technique was called stone seal, there was also sand seal. Gad that tar did a job on your car sometimes.

This reminds me of drag slicks and red line tires. On cars, that is.  Jscked up front ends with front bumper and grill removed.

The other day I was thinking about those TV tube testers they had at most drug stores. If your TV quit working, you'd take off the back pull out all the tubes take them down to the store, and find out which one didn't work. There was a selection of new tubes there and you'd buy the one you need, go home and fix your TV.
