1894c Marlin problem

Recommended Posts

I took the bolt out of the action and cleaned it as it had been shot in at least a dozen matches, my problem is that the bolt went all the way forward so that I cannot insert the lever, nor can I seem to get the bolt to retract far enough to insert the lever.....

What do I do to retract the bolt in order to re-insert the lever?

Disassembled the action and pull the locking lug out the bottom.  There shouldn't be anything keeping the bolt from moving backwards.  If it is kind of stuck forward,  use a cleaning rod through the bore to bump it.  It shouldn't take more than a bump.

PS,  you may be able to pull the locking lug down without taking it apart. Look just ahead of then trigger and find the bottom of the locking lug.  It won't be blued.  About 3/8" square.   If you can get it to come down, the bolt will come back. Usually it will fall by gravity alone.

Took a little more than gentle bop on the cleaning rod, but it is out and properly reassembled......

Thanks Guys!!!!
