If a sports league/association knows the National Anthem is going to be disrespectfully used as an excuse to insert political protest into a sporting event, why not simply eliminate the anthem before the game? Players not forced to honor such a worthless country. Fans not insulted by idiot players' stupid protests. "Welcome to the game . . . tonight's starting lineups . . . play ball!"
