This is such a traumatic event. I've known that with every dog I've ever had, but I've never seen one faint before.

Quick!  Get the other nails done before she wakes up.

Absolutely. Big Brown Dog did not like to have anyone touch her feet. That made it real hard to trim her nails. While she was still out from being spayed, they trimmed her nails. She couldn't bite them when she was asleep.

I have severe dentaphobia. Dentists scare the living hell out of me. I remember back when I was in 7th grade they decided that I had like six or seven cavities. And he's drilling away and I'm fighting him, and I finally passed out. And he finished fixing my teeth before he went out in the waiting room and told Mama that I had fainted.

I hate to break it to you like this Jack, but Finnegan isn't a Rhodesian name.

When idiot child would have to go to the bathroom, I would open the back door and let her out. Fenced backyard, no problem.

Except when it was raining. She would stand in the doorway and look at the rain coming down and look at me and tell me to turn it off. When I did not do what she requested, she would go to the front door. Maybe it's not raining out there.

I open the front door and she looks and it's raining out there too. This is a problem.

But if I put on a raincoat and get her leash, then she is perfectly happy to go outside in the pouring down rain and pee.

If she has to get wet - I have to get wet. That's the rule.

The dog really brought my semi-feral cat out of her shell.

Is your dog fast?

I saw some idiotic video the other day, where they were comparing dog speeds.

A German Shepherd would go this fast, but a Doberman Pinscher was faster than a shepherd. Then a whippet was faster than a Doberman, something else was faster than a whippet - I don't remember what it was. A greyhound was faster than that - whatever the heck it was. An Afghan was faster than a greyhound. But the fastest of all was the dalmatian.

Because they were bred as coach dogs and they were bred for speed so they could keep up with the horses.

Funny - I would think they were bred for color. "I need a white dog with a bunch of black spots on it!"

They were bred for fur coats. I know, I saw the movies.

She is pretty fast.  A couple of months ago, she managed to capture a fawn out back.  We had to pull her off the fawn so it could escape.

Our back acre has become a nesting ground for the local doe.  We don't go back there much and it's pretty secluded.  There is a pond back there and they can hop the side fence to snack on the wild berry bushes in the vacant lot next door.  We have to keep a close eye on her when we let her back there so she doesn't disturb the nests.
