Calls it a “challenging situation”. Ridiculous.

I call it an insurrection.

We need to be careful about painting all the residents with a broad brush. There are innocent people who are suffering. I doubt everyone in the city voted for the idiot just like not everyone in CA voted for the idiot Governor there.

As I quoted of Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana): "When the mayor's IQ reaches 70...he should sell!"

If you have a choice between being shipped to Afghanistan or winding up on the South and West Sides of Chicago, and various neighborhoods in Portland, New York City, etc., which would you choose?  Statistically, you would be safer in Afghanistan! :o

To a point, I couldn't agree more.  I've just run out of patience and lost ANY respect for politicians and public officials who fail to do what the law and the Constitution REQUIRE them to do!!!  I do feel some sympathy for people who CAN'T get out, but I also suspect that MANY MANY of those who dislike what is happening are also among those who didn't or DON'T see fit to vote!!

I have experienced the  little Commie Antifa bastages of Portland. They are scum. Entitled Commie white rich kids that are offended for and by everyone else on the planet.

The police there have their hands tied by the mayor and the chief of police. I feel for every cop in Portland.

A majority of Portlandians are definitely behind the mayor and I think they are mentally insane or at the very least warped.

A minority of folks  are stuck there in Portland because of jobs, family or other obligations.

The people outside of Portland are mostly moderate to conservative but that is changing as well.

I left Oregon in November of  2018 to come back to California for work and to be near my daughter, son-in-law and grandson, actually I did it  so my wife could  be closer to our grandson.

I also did  this  to add some more years to a retirement plan that I was already vested in. In 2 years, 6 months and 4  days I will quit this job and get the hell out of this state once and for all.

They had 50 consecutive days of protests/ rioting/trying to destroy federal buildings. The mayor allowing it to happen ordering the police to stand down. Then, after 50 days, when federal law enforcement comes in, the mayor claims it was winding down and the feds escalated the problem. Unbelievable.

And, of course, in Afghanistan, you are encouraged to return fire......

Perhaps the IDIOT mayor should be locked up for failure to protect public(federal and state) property and inciting (encouraging and condoning) rioting and willful destruction of property!

I see them more as Sturmabteilung than Red Guards.

Not that there is that much difference between the two.

Antifa are Communists. Their group originated in Germany in 1932. So I guess they could be either.

National Socialist, Communist, Fascist (socialism with a whitewash of capitalism) - all just different faces of the same totalitarian die.  No real difference in methods.

I judge the Antifa thugs as Sturmabteilung because their methods and tactics match more those of the SA than the Red Guard.  Again, not really much difference.

BW, the reality is that the citizens who do vote for these cretins and capons VASTLY outnumber those who don't.

A larger percentage of the citizens we would consider "conservative" DO turn out to vote.  BUT the "liberal" citizenry so outnumber the "conservatives" that their much smaller turn-out percentage is still a larger number of votes.

Take California, for example.  Almost 80% of "eligible*" voters are registered, with the spread being:

Democrat       43.1%

Republican     23.6%

Independent  28.3%

The Independent's usually have a "leaning."  Of those Independents polled approximately 43% lean Democratic, and 26% Republican and vote accordingly.

*There is substantial concern about voter fraud - which generally is suspected to be heavily weighted toward the "liberal" side.  This could be any combination of unqualified, illegally registered voters, registered voters having their ballots completed by others, suppression of "conservative" ballots, and so forth.

Now... how to put this delicately...

OH hell, I can't.  So, I'll be blunt:

Those of us of a "conservative" bent who live in these areas work hard to defend our communities, states, and our nation.  Our lifestyles; indeed, our very lives.

So - The oft-seen argument that "WE" just sit on our butts, that "WE" don't get out and vote, that "WE" deserve what we get because "WE" let it happen, is about the dumbest statement ever, and is absolute horsesh*t.  Every time I read something like that on these pages I find it to be insulting and downright disgusting.  It could be equated to blaming a rape victim for "allowing" it to happen.  (BTW - I once sat on a jury for a rape case where that very argument was used.  Didn't work there, either.)

Hardpan! I sympathize with you and your situation! We fight the same battle.

For now, the majority of voters in my state remain conservative. There are urban areas that seem to draw the liberal dregs from other places. We discourage them from spreading into outer, neighboring communities, gently.

If we are the minority, or if we become the minority, we have to demand protection guaranteed to minorities by the Constitution!  We must make the cost of denying our rights so high that others aren’t willing to foot the bill! If we have to become moving targets to delay losing our rights, so be it! I’m really happy with where I live and I like being close to friends and family, but if packing up and selling out here and finding more suitable surroundings, I WILL do it.

Until the political climate changes, and it will change, we have to make it so difficult and so financially prohibitive that more and more of these idiots decide that it just isn’t worth it!!

Liberal, socialist nations always eventually collapse under their own weight.  Lasting long enough to see that collapse or avoiding a total socialist takeover is the goal!!

From the article: "

At 12:32 a.m. local time Thursday morning, the Portland Police Bureau in a tweet had declared a riot outside the county justice center. The police said that those who didn’t disperse immediately could be subject to arrest, citation, tear gas or impact weapons.

The police said that people ignored the order, threw Molotov cocktails at the federal building and hundreds of other projectiles with multiple fires lighted. At least one assault was reported, the police said. Eventually the crowd dispersed."

But according to the press it was a peaceful protest.
