Utah Bob #35998
Doctor’s office says he’ll call us for a vide conference. Been trying to set that up on my phone with an app called Duo for an hour. No idea what I’m doing.
Charlie Harley, #14153
I find Zoom to be much more user friendly.
Utah Bob #35998
Don't know what Zoom is either. I am that proverbial pig that you shouldn't try to teach how to sing.
Charlie Harley, #14153
If necessary there’s that thingy on the wall. A Bakelite box with a spiral cord connecting it to a handset. It might have twelve square buttons, or maybe even a numbered spinner. Those things never confused me, and even worked in power outages. I never figured out how they did that, but was glad they worked. Have a good weekend, UB. Glad you and the missus are back where you belong. Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
Yer going to have to learn Utah Bob. My last three visits with the Cardiologist, the Oncologist and the Orthopedic surgeon have all been on line. I just hope they don't have an online visit with the Proctologist scheduled. Yeah, you’d have to use a lot of lube on that phone!

Somewhere in your house there was a transformer that powered the low voltage system for Ma Bell. When that went out the batteries took over. UB +1000 on you and the Misses being home safe. Utah Bob #35998
HA! My wife figured it out. She's a tech genius. Compared to me anyway. She tested it by calling her sister. I'm not sure this was a good idea.

After 52 years of wedded bliss, ask me how I came to that piece of free advice.

Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
Lucky you. My SWMBO and her sister were raised French/Canadian. Beautiful women, but don't ever get them angry!
bgavin
I host a lot of Zoom meetings. A smart phone is the least ideal device to use for this. Just plain awful. Best is a desktop computer with a good size screen and a web camera. Next best is a tablet with a built-in web cam. Zoom has a permanent "test" meeting where you can connect at your convenience and get your audio and video settings set correctly. zoom.us/test The ideal image is from your desktop monitor with the web cam on the top edge. This shows you in a presentable manner, rather than lookup up your nose.

Rye Miles #13621
I just visited my doctor and asked him about this, he's not in favor of it but he'll do it. He takes my blood pressure, talks to me about blood work and then probes me with the stethoscope like Doc Adams did! He also looks in my ears, feels my ankles and knees for swelling I guess. How the heck would he do that online? My doctor visit costs me $5.00 copay and damn it I want my money's worth!
Utah Bob #35998
When we went to the new oncologist Tuesday In Farmington, the door guard nurse went to check with the doctor to ask if he would see Carol. She said we have travelled out of state recently and are supposed to be quarantined for 14 days! Fortunately he agreed to see her or I would have caused a bit of a scene. I had to stay outside the building. I’m used to that. It was the same in Charlotte for the last 4 months.

But this appointment is a records review and consultation. No problem.

Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
I will "see" a new doctor next Friday. His nurse called and suggested a video conference. I declined in favor of a phone call. It was no problem. The appointment is for a new Gastroenterologist, as my favorite one retired and it is time for another Colonoscopy. I won't complain as I'd rather have a Colonoscopy than the alternative. BTDT.
