Richard Carpenter was the first producer who used multi-track recording to allow one singer to lay down multiple tracks and create their own song in harmony with themself. The Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun” was the first #1 hit to use that technique. Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry. Be Happy.” Is probably the most recent. And since I knew Cyrus would ask, here is Karen in all her amazing glory... The only female voice you hear is her. My parents had that vinyl record, too. bgavin
I figure there are a number of folks walking around today, as a direct result of that album.

One of my my last albums before leaving for college was Carpenters Greatest Hits.

Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795
Such a shame that voice was stilled. Her "Merry Christmas Darling" always gives me the "feels". Her, Mama Cass Eliot, and as of late Linda Ronstadt are such sad wastes of a good female voice/voices. I have the Carpenter's Greatest Hits album as well.
