Summer Of Love Is Over

Apparently Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has been talking to the City’s Police Commissioner about going back into Seattle’s Capital Hill Twilight Zone, (a.k.a. CHOP, a.k.a. CHAZ), taking the abandoned Police Pricinct building back and clearing out the occupying anarchists, “protesters,” and other bums.

I think the goofy Mayor Jennings is desperately looking for a way out of this.  I also do not think that the occupiers are going to leave peaceably. This should be fun to watch.

It never ceases to amaze me how leftist, liberal, socialists, have no conception of what is just plain old common horse sense.  Peaceful protests are one thing, and every American has the right to peacefully protest about what they think is unjust, or wrong.

This is not a protest, and this seems to be typical of how leftist, liberal, socialists government officials handle these situations.  They pander to the mob, to whatever seems "popular" at the moment.  Now, it seems, someone has put a chair in front of the local government officials, for reality to set in !!!

Call it, and handle it, for what it IS...vandalism, lawless behavior, and self-centeredness.

You have to ask yourself, two questions.  Are these people, that are occupying this property, on a happiness quest, or a truth quest?

Obviously, they are on a happiness quest, at the expense of truth, dignity, and respect for law and property.

Ultimately who's fault is this?  It is the people that voted this administration in, in the first place.  Vote for the person, and what they believe, and stand for...do not vote for them because they belong to a particular political party!!!  For crying in a bucket!!!!

Simple as that.

W.K.

If I owned property or a business there I would sue the city and sue the mayor personally along with the city council and any and all associated scumbags involved including their funding sources.

Any organization that would come out of this and garner money from companies for support would be sued along with the companies that support them.
Nike, Apple, Amazon, Google, Starbucks, whoever! You want to support social changing groups? You get to pay for their antics.

It’s really too bad parents cannot be held accountable for their moronic semi adult children.

Well they have a real dilemma and no matter what, the city will come out smelling like the cesspool it has become.

First they have passed a resolution prohibiting the police from using standard non-lethal methods of crowd control. No tazers, tear gas, flash bangs etc. So the police have zero tools to prevent an up close and personal confrontation.

Second the police have been forced to retreat multiple times. This has made the protesters very confident that they can continue to defy authority. When the confrontation comes they will not back down.

It has also destroyed any remaining confidence the rank and file may have had in their leadership.

Third the media will make the cops out to be the bad guys no matter who fires the first round and you can bet your last dollar that there is going to be a fire fight before it is over.

JMNSHO but the tool needed to evict these clowns is the National Guard. They should surround the Capital Hill district  preventing any of these terrorists from escaping and then roll into the area like they were going into down town Fallujah; fully armored, locked and loaded. Make it clear to all sides that violent resistance will be met with lethal force. No rubber bullets, no bean bags only live ammo.

Round them all up and only after they are all caged should they sort them out.

Lastly when the next bunch of terrorist try to retaliate and do this occupation some place else swiftly and decisively put a stop to it. The time for playing nice is long past. These terrorists need to learn that playing stupid games means you will win stupid prizes.

I understand and sympathize with the urge to use force to evict the “demonstrators”.  But we do not want to recreate Tiananmen Square in Seattle.

Surround the area, cut off electricity, water, food deliveries, and give the occupants a way to leave peacefully by surrendering at a gate.  When each one is in custody, then we can judge how the authorities treat them.  Shrink the perimeter to squeeze out any holdouts.  Use force only if fired upon. We can’t have any passive demonstrator getting run over by a police vehicle.

There is a part of me that wants to send a battalion of Strykers or MRAPS into CHOP, but I agree with J-Bar, the last thing we want is to make martyrs or heroes to the Left out of the thugs and criminals in CHOP.

I agree 100% . Those that surrender peaceably should be allowed to do so. I am even ok with passive resistance.

What is NOT OK is violent resistance. Violent resistance should be met with lethal force.

It is high time that assaulting law enforcement with bats, rocks, and molotov cocktails come to an abrupt end.

What do you propose the actual residents inside that zone do once their homes have no water or electricity? 99% of them didn't ask for this foolishness and when supplies are cut off those terrorists will start invading their homes in search of food and water.

The Capons in Seattle's government have created a no win situation. The longer it gets drawn out the worse it will be.

Here's my thinking (as a guy who works in Seattle, lives in the suburbs)....the people in this zone who are causing the issue are not dependent on electricity or running water.   They're living in tents and on the streets in this area.

Cutting the power and water will have an impact on the people who live and work there - who are ALREADY bearing the brunt of the negative of this situation.

Don't misunderstand - I'm not suggesting that the power and water shouldn't be cut, rather I'm suggesting it needs to go further than that.  In my opinion, if we want out of this non-violently, we have to lay siege to the area; cut off ALL inbound supplies, and offer relief to the people who live and work there (could house them in some of the unused Covid centers that we built in a panic 3 months ago).  Then basically starve out the remainder.

There must be some remedy available through the courts to compensate the victims of the demonstration.  It’s not a quick solution but it should put all city governments on notice that there will be consequences to elected officials who do not enforce laws.  I suspect there are law firms already drooling at the prospect of class action suits arising from the misbehavior, from both the demonstrators and the officials who permitted and encouraged them.

“It was not apparent if the shootings had anything to do with the protest — gunfire sometimes occurs in the neighborhood, especially on warm summer nights.“

I read this, and think,” Who writes this stuff?”

The outrageousness of that - yeah, no kidding.  The shootings don't have anything to do with the protest.  They're the result of the lawlessness!  The hoods have found a place to hide.

Oh, wait....let me guess..."hoods" is an offensive term.  I meant to say "legally disenfranchised"

Just saw on the news that a "guest" commentator stated that "white supremacists" were responsible for the shootings. Now how in the HE**, did they get in there with all of that wonderful crowd sourced "security" that is able to keep the cops out?

I think it’s gone way too far and force is needed at this point. We have to show them they can’t do this ever again. Go in full force and start beating some heads. If they shoot then shoot back! Enough is enough!

You’re absolutely right, Dave. The only problem with taking that sort of action, is it requires someone in a leadership position who has a pair.
So far, no one like that ( on a State level) has stepped up to the plate.

I’d like to say what I really mean, but it would get me banned from the Wire for good. Maybe instead, I’ll just make a bowl of popcorn and watch the whole thing unfold on FOX NEWS live... Or, just say a prayer.

If there is a remedy via the courts I cannot figure it out. I have thought about all the possible ways to end this and all of them except one  severely punish the residents and just prolong the inevitable.

The only option I can see that doesn't cause the residents being held hostage by these terrorists  even more grief is to evict the occupiers by force.

When most of the protesters see that an overwhelming force has given them three options;

1. Leave peaceably

2. Passively resist and be forcibly removed in shackles

3. Violently resist and be shot

most will choose options 1 and 2.

The terrorist on the other hand want a violent confrontation and will stay there till they get it.  So I say give them what they want. Let it be a lesson for the rest of the domestic terrorists in this country.

The one absolute in all this is that Trump has to avoid it like the plague. Otherwise it will all be laid at his feet.

1991. I was in New Orleans to do a job. We pull up to the job site about 7 at night. 10 foot chain link fence with concertina wire. Armed guard at the gate.

As he is opening the gate to let us in I hear gunshots in the distance.

I asked the guard (a black man) if he knew what the gunshots were about.

"It's just them ni----s on the other side of the levee shooting at each other."

Just a normal Friday night.

Beautiful in every way except for downtown Seattle. It was a squalid cesspool of lowlifes and worse.

Not surprised how events have unfolded there.

It's been a haven for the homeless, the drug abusers, thieves,  muggers, assorted others for well on 15 years now. Too bad, used to be a nice city.

It ain't the big cities.  It's the big cities' government (or lack thereof).  We need a new movement:  No You Don't.

I’m listing my house that’s one hour south of Sea Tac to move to the east border or probably Idaho.  We were on the fence but the governor’s continued Idiocracy has mandated action.  They come for pictures soon, list 3 days after that.  Such a beautiful state and such a shame at the same time.

Actually, what I found amusing is the association of shootings with “warm summer nights.” The introduction of such phrases brings to mind several thoughts;

1) The introduction of some sort of poetic or literary sounding phrase to an otherwise dumb news story to make it sound either well researched or intellectual.

2) The idea that there is a connection with warmer weather and shootings doesn’t lead you far to the idea that the man-made “climate/weather phrase of the day” leads to homicides.

3) These reporters really are as big a bunch of dumb a&$3s as I thought

In Germany, homicides have been blamed on the föhn wind for decades. Folklore said it drove people Krazy.

“Der Föhn” (pronounced, “fohern”) is somewhat comparable here in California, to our “Santa Ana Winds” in (lower) Southern California, and closer to me, the “Sundowner” winds from the Santa Barbara area.  These aren’t exactly like the German Föhn winds, but similar to the effect of how Der Föhn winds are created and the certain effects created by Der Föhn.

Believe me.......Germans believe that all manner of errors, omissions and other, general, everyday screwups, events, etc., may be attributed to Der Föhn.  AND, it is to a pretty large extent, very true!  These “Der Föhn,” phenomena cause barometric pressure changes that may indeed cause people to experience lightheadedness, headache, and various aches and pains, leading to mental distractions that result in various poor performance In driving (traffic accidents) teaching, learning, work performance (product and behavior), sports activity and performance, and a veritable endless number of other issues.  SO, it certainly  is real.....the Germans aren’t just faking it.  When I lived in the Southern part of West (at the time) Germany (6 years) I could feel it.

It even affected wild animals....two friends and I, after we had to stop running in the forest due to aching joints, headache, dizzyness, and nausea, were confronted by 4 big wolves that had been following us.  (We’d NEVER see wolves...ever.)  We noticed them only when our long-legged guy in front, turned around, running backwards, to say he had to stop running, and saw the wolves closing on us only a few yards behind.  ! could scarcely believe it!  These 4 big wolves stopped when we did, and stayed right there, 30 feet away!  After 3-4 minutes, with the wolves and us eyeballing one another, they slowly walked off and laid down a few yards nearby to watch us.  They set about licking their leg joints.....we sat down too, and rubbed our ankles and knees.  We were all in pain (Der Föhn).  After about 10 minutes, the wolves got up, nosed one another for a few seconds and trotted off into the deep woods to where we couldn’t see them anymore.  Strangely, they weren’t afraid of us and we were not afraid of them.  After about a half hour, we walked out to the edge of the forest to a nearby “gasthaus” to eat a bite and drink a beer.  The place was fairly crowded with Germans complaining of headache and bodyaches:  “Ach, es ist Der Föhn!”

Other times in the forest during a Der Föhn event, we would see a lot (maybe a dozen or more) of the little fully grown, but fawn-size (to us) Roebuck deer moving in little groups (their fawn-babies were incredibly small) seemingly ignoring us and hanging out, and laying down at the lavish water fountains that were here and there in the middle of nowhere in the vast, pristine “black forest” German woods.  We’d stop there to drink too, and amazingly (during Der Föhn events) didn’t agitate the little Roebuck at all....we’d ignore one another.  Usually, we’d never see the secretive, phantom, little Roebuck.  So, Der Föhn climate effect in Germany, near Munich, anyway, is (or was, back then) a very real and very noticeable phenomena.
