Newknee59
Will a hand spring and pin that is broken or missing on a Pietta 1873 Frontier cause the gun to not cock or let the cylinder turn?
Warden Callaway
Can you take the gun apart? Problem will be likely be obvious.

Abilene, SASS # 27489
If the hand spring is missing (coil spring) or broken (leaf spring), the gun should advance the cylinder when cocked pointing down, and will not turn when cocked pointing up. Warden Callaway
Here is a video showing the disassembly of a Uberti Cattleman. He doesn't show the little hand plunger that is very easily lost as is the spring and set screw that holds it in place. I also keep the screws in the holes they come out of. And I put the pin-screws for the trigger and bolt back in the trigger and bolt so they don't get swapped.
