I have an 1873 Pietta Bill Tighlman 45 colt and the cylinder won' turn when cocked and the only way it will cock if I hold the barrek up toward the ceiling.

Please help me figure out what is going on.

I do not know.  Someone here who has had experience with a similar problem might chime in and give better advice.

Have you dismantled the revolver yet?  (I’m guessing no.)

A wild guess on my part is that you have a broken hand or broken spring inside the gun, or even a worn hammer.  But, these are only guesses without my inspecting your gun.

If you don’t feel you are experienced enough or have the correct screwdrivers, take it to a gunsmith.  Really, don’t chew up your gun’s screws by using “regular” screwdrivers.

You will get it fixed.
