Sawhorse Kid
Once again I have been considering putting a Drop Cylinder into my 51 Navy. Cylinder manufacturer states fitting will be required. What exactly does 'Fitting' consist of ?
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Timing/indexing. That's mostly controlled by the cyl pawl. OLG
Pat Riot
The key is they need to fit the cylinder’s machined surfaces to the existing pawl, not the pawl to the cylinder.
Colorado Coffinmaker
Always ALWAYS alter the cheapest part FIRST. Lump Lump is spot on. You may/will have to alter the Hand to get correct timing. I'd suggest ordering up another Hand, just incase. PS: A Hand, altered to correctly index the Cylinder (Two Piece R & D Type) may leave the percussion cylinder short of "in battery" when slowly drawing the hammer back. Cocked smartly, the inertia of the percussion cylinder will carry it up into battery.
