Col Del Rio
While I had my 1897 dissembled for cleaning, the hammer snapped forward. Now I cannot get the hammer backed to cocked, therefore I cannot reassemble the action. Any tricks to get the hammer back to cocked? Its an 1897 take down made in 1908. Newt Ritter
On the very bottom of your carrier, screw out the trigger spring screw that lets that leaf screw come off. I find I have to then hold the carrier upright above my head, look inside and you should see the small stirrup attached to the hammer, and see the small "hook" where it should go. When you get that back in its place, put the trigger spring back on and you're good to go.
Marauder SASS #13056
Look at the hammer, Part 81 and the little part 67 that connects to it. That little part should go into the end of part 59, the hammer spring.
