Tonight they tooted that the Casinos are going to reopen on tribal lands. My suggestion is to stay safe. Really easy to do. I saw a local news story about local Indian Casinos getting hit hard by CoVid Quarantines. I must say it didn’t cause my Giveadamn Meter to register even the slightest bit of fluctuation. Never spend more than I intended to, and less than I would if we were the types to eat out regularly and go to movies, shopping and such. The wife enjoys the fancy slot machines. I call it paying war reparations to the tribes. But I suspect I won’t be going to one for quite some time. For the record, I don’t like Las Vegas. Once, there were parking meters on Main street in Jackson, CA. The Rancheria paid (and pays) for them to be removed. It isn't totally altruistic though. There are numerous tourist attractions on Main Street to amuse the non-gamblers in a couple. The National Hotel Bar has a bottle of Scotch in a leather case that is $250 a shot. It was purchased to have on hand when the Rancheria CEO comes by in his Bentley. I'm not a gambler; but, my MIL is. I took her there once. There were too many smokers for me to stick around. If I never hear another slot machine it will be too soon. Maybe I'm too cheap but I can't see putting my money down and getting nothing in return. My wife and her sister went to a casino in Oklahoma, and my wife won $800. They took $50 with them and when its gone its over. My high school probability and statistics teacher taught most of the class from the context of gaming. Roulette, poker, perimutuel betting, horses, lotteries. All contributed to our learning and certainly kept us engaged. Whether she planned it or not, it also cured me from ever wanting to gamble. In college I took a psychology class that looked at white rats in Skinner Boxes, and how to entice rodents to tap the bar most frequently to earn food pellet rewards. I’ll skip the details, but slot machines and humans are an exact correlation to Skinner Boxes and rats, and I’m smarter than a rat. Folk are free to spend money as they wish. That too! ED: Some years ago, I took my Dad to Carson City to a Civil War Rifle Match . It was our last trip together. We ventured into the Casino to see their attraction of $1,000,000.00 in GOLD nuggets. While there, I purchased 2 rolls, @ $2.00 per roll, of nickels to play the slots. I told Dad, " when that is gone, we are gone. We milked that $4.00 for over an hour. Dad kept saying to me, " give me some nickels". We had a great time. Choctaw Jack Posted May 15, 2020 Share Posted May 15, 2020 To the Wire, Even though I don't gamble,seldom drink,and have never smoked ,Lady Daisy Jane and I do like to visit the casinos,but only when we travel in our motorhome Most casinos have separate parking for overnighters,with security on site.Most offer at least one restaurant,with reasonable prices.Some are quite good.One of the best prime rib dinners I ever had was at a native American casino,and it cost less than$15.00 There is usually some sort of convenience store on site,and sometimes they have fuel for very competitive prices.
