Cholla
I have been enjoying the book, Tim McCoy Remembers The West. In it Tim recalls being a young man in 1909 in Wyoming on cattle round ups. He said cowboys were not allowed to carry a pistol as stated in the Wyoming Stock Growers Association's rules. The reasoning was that during the long days tempers would grow short and it didn't take much for guns to be drawn. He also said many cowboys kept their pistols in their bedrolls and as long as they stayed there, nobody said a thing. This is not the first time I have heard this. I would like to find a copy of the rules stating this. Anyone seen a copy on the www?
Tascosa, SASS# 24838
I Think there is an old law on the books in NM that you can't carry a gun on a roundup. I think my grandpa told me that.
