The biggest western star of all, John Wayne, was ailing and could not attend, but was given special mention by Glenn Ford during the program. The Duke died on June 11, six days after this program was telecast.. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans appeared on the show, but are not in this group picture. Gene Autry did not appear on the show.
