Finagler 6853 Life
What is going on with wheel weights? I got a bucket of weights the other day and I am finding that more than half of the weights and not lead. Steel weights and some kind of squishy tape on crap. I know lead is not PC but really? Michigan Slim
Zinc, steel, plastic, etc. Those stick on rubber ones are for cheap service managers. It comes on a roll and the tech just cuts off a measured amount. I still get quite a few lead ones though.
Boulder Canyon Bob# 32052L
Many states have banned lead wheel weights, the stick on ones are typically used for aluminum wheels that are too thick for the weight to clamp on to and to not scratch them. The Original Lumpy Gritz
Many states have banned them as far back as 2010. OLG

Cliff Hanger #3720LR
Visualize a cross section of the weight. Weights that have a tear drop shape, rounded at one end (rim side) and more or less come to a point at the other are lead. The weights that look like trapezoids are more zinc. Steel can be picked out with a maganet. As stated above, states have banned lead wheel weights. Also the stick on and cutable stick on weight have more zinc in them than 10 years ago. Chili Ron
Howdy, Our club did a bit of lead reclaim and there was a LOT of lead just at ground level or a bit below. I tried to get some of the shot from the shotgun range but they took care of their buddies first. Tape on wheel weights have been around 50 years or so. Those little steel clips ripped right into mag wheels. Maybe I could wander thru the club today. Nice day for a cigar...... Best CR
